Do You Read While On The Crapper?

I don't know what lead to it , but while having some beers with other crewmembers in a bar in Georgetown, Washington DC, we had a hilarious discussion about reading while attending to your daily business in the restrooms.

One conclusion we draw is that men are more prone to be heavy readers then
women.

As I'm sure that more then one stupid friday-night thread is allowed, here we go:

Do you read while taking a dump, and if so wich is your favourite lecture for this joyfull occasion and how much time on average will you spend reading.

Never once, and don't understand why anyone would. Do your business, wipe, flush and go. There are more exciting things in life than sitting on the can.

Absolutely agreed!

To be honest, reading is for the lounge or for just before bedtime! Not for the crapper!

This will probably be the most outrageous reply to the topic, but it's the honest-to-god truth. My favorite lecture for this joyful occasion?

Quantum mechanics, relativity, and superstring theory Big grin

I'll read a few pages per "sitting"...It makes the occasion a very uplifting experience!

Indeed, but if you're gonna be there for a few minutes anyway, might as well make it somewhat entertaining.

I have a couple Guitar Worlds that I'll typically glance through while dropping the boys off at the pond. Funny thing is, when I first tried to read while on the crapper, it felt way too unnatural. Now I'm used to it I guess.

EDIT:
"Quantum mechanics, relativity, and superstring theory"

Hahahaha, I think I actually got through most of "A Brief History Of Time" while on the crapper.

Airline timetables, of course. Right now I have Koreanair's latest and Air France winter 05 (in French), Cathay Pacific 2003. The good stuff (BOAC, Braniff, MEA from the 60s) are in the bookcase in the living room.

Hey, it's good alone time.

I usually read the daily flyers from the paper and look for good sales on stuff i need.

I never read any novels. There are some books i have read i would use to wipe my ass with though.

Yes, I always hear radio and read something while sitting on the crapper, currently I read the Bundesliga season start edition of my favourite football magazine "Kicker".

A few years ago I spent several weeks with a friend in Spain, we shared a bed- and bathroom and after three days we almost had a library in the bathroom, the collection contained news magazines like "Stern" and "Spiegel" but also the LTU and Aero Lloyd inflight magazines and other stuff we got for free in the plane like "Sport Bild" and "Auto Bild". Taking a dump there was always very entertaining. Big grin

By the way, sometimes I even check my mails while sitting on the crapper, WiFi makes it possible.

Agreed there. The loo is last place I like to spend quality time. In a place were air freshener is kept for use on a regular basis, After I make my deposit I just want raise up and get the hell out of there.

There's a LOT I could do with this line, but instead I'll just make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl.

Depends...if I'm taking a really big mansize sh*t and know from the outset that I'm going to be in there a while, I'll take some reading material.

If I'm just dropping some rabbit pellets, I won't bother. I'd only get through a paragraph or two, and the story will just be getting good when I find that I'm done and I wish I had a one onboard that could sink the titanic just so I could sit there and read a bit longer.

Ladies Confessions are the best, unfoirtunately for me, my mum decided to flick through to see why I read it and read this page, now she has banned me from buying it saying it is too explicit for a fourteen year old

I'll jus take the nearest thing that i'm reading whether its airliner World or a novel

Reading Airways and Jeremy Clarksons Biography at the moment
Next will be The Clinic by Jonathan Kellerman
