The pilots must have not expected at all to be downed by a handheld rocket launcher:

Which kind of launcher can hit a chopper as far as this..

That looks like a MIL or a Puma. That is not a blackhawk, Huey or Sea Stallion.

Looks like an SA-7.

That video has been doing the rounds for a while, I don't think it originates from the Hizbullah or the recent conflict in the Lebanon. I agree with Miamiair, the first helo looks remarkably like a Mil Mi-8 or perhaps a Mi-17.

That is a old one and it can not be related to any current conflict.

I think on www.metacafe.com there is the same.

Must be Afganistan or Tschetnia.

It is for sure not the current conflict in Lebanon!!

Well the one you're thinking of was the victim of an ATGM, see mil-av.

That is an old video out of Afghanistan when the crazies were fighting with the Russians...with American equipment.

Makes me sick.

Not at all, simply refering to them as "crazies" because that is where Bin Laden and his band of merry followers first appeared. I am not commenting on the Afgan people as a whole.

It's not weird, the previously mentioned crazies were using American equipment, given what they have "evolved" into and the current state of affairs, the whole situation makes me sick. What is weird about that?

Wait wait wait wait.

We need to analyze the source of the Video.
Only a minority of Iranian speak arabic (or that's what I thought?). So, 1) does the average Iranian soldier speak in arabic or persian? 2) isn't the land too green?

And I thought arabic isn't Afghanistan's language as well!!!

Chechneyia? hmm seems to be a better route.

I can't see this happening in Iraq because it's not a desert, and probably because the heli seems a Russian model from what you guys are saying.

that might sound ironic but I personally think Afghanistan would have been closer to civilization by now had the soviets taken over. The world would be better if neither existed but communism is more advanced than islamism by a "long shot"

On the list of A.Net, most 10 ignorant, you have to be in the top 5... communism is more advancd than Islamism? Go visit Dubai, Doha, Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Casablanca, Alexandria, or any of countless Arab cities then say that.

The feeling is mutual, although I don't "hate you" or will try to insult you personally..

Yes your examples are great, and Dubai and the others are very modern cities, now if something I read on another thread is correct, I just learned in the UAE the govt. blocks certain websites they don't want you to see, is this true? I like people, I don't care where they're from. I met a Jordanian girl downtown last night, who was really nice, a lot nicer than her two , snobby Asian-American friends she was with with fake boobs and probably lips, one who claimed she was raised in DC, the other that her "boyfriend" was in Vegas...

Even the communists allow more freedom to practice personal beliefs (something fundamental for many). The gender issue is another one. Islamic societies still have some laws straight out of the middle ages. Of course I know you know this, but I'm just refreshing your mind. Still love to hear your excuses, so no I don't hate you QR  Smile

They are all cities in countries that have a very large Muslim majority, and to say that communism is more advanced than islamism is just absurd. Afghasistan was not an example of a proper Islamic society, not even Saudi Arabia is that insane...

Really? How many Arab countries have you visited? I've actually been to the West many times, including the United States, Canada, and Europe. Tell me, what ignorance am I displaying? You, on the other hand, seem to think that Afghanistan was based on proper Islamic values, a complete misconception.

Yes, the UAE government does block certain website - as far as I know, none are political, the websites they block are all pornographic because under the laws of the UAE pornography is illegal. The same applies in many Gulf countries.

Only one Islamic society is based on laws that belong in the middle ages, and that is Saudi Arabia. In almost all Muslim-majority areas, the governments of Muslim states allows non-Muslims to freely practice, even if some extremists try to stop this. I live in Qatar, for example, and there are three or four churches there - nobody harasses non-Muslims for practicing their relgion. In Jordan, you can hear the church bells and call to prayer at the same time, as is the case in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria - the only countries, IMO, that have a real problem with allowing others to practice their faith freely are Iran and Saudi Arabia.

I never said I hated you, Miami, but what I hate is how you generalize about Islam so freely - extremists do not represent the majority, and just because some idiots have taken our religion and interpreted it to suit their needs does not mean that all Muslims are like that.
