The last Grand Slam of the year has arrived .The US open Tennis begins on the 28th and finishes on the 10th of September.
Well we see Federer win his third open in succession and add to his 8 grand slam titles already or will someone else step up this time around. This will also be Agassi last Grand Slam.

Well, obviously it'd be great to see Agassi win, but that's an extremely unlikely outcome. Hopefully he'll at least get to the quarters or so.

Other than that, I don't really have a favorite on the men's side. Federer is always a pleasure to watch, of course.

On the women's side, I'm a fan of Sharapova (except for the extreme grunting, which is annoying as hell). It'd be nice to see her get another grand slam tourney under her belt.

I am going to go with a Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal. I know Federer has a tuff go with Nadel but I think he will pull it off in 6 sets.

As far as women go I am going to place my bet on Justine Henin-Hardenne, though I would be happer then a pig in Shite if Martina Hingis wins, free drinks on me if that is the case.

Don't you mean 5 sets.
Nadal seems to have proven himself on Grass I wonder if he can do it again on a different surface

Not liking the time difference too much  Sad Having to stay up very late at the moment to watch the tennis.

What I am liking though is the ability for players to challenge calls. I watched the Toronto and Cincinatti masters and saw some great calls by the players. Some were right in front of the umpire. Let hope we some more over the next week and a half.

I think that Federer will win in the men's and I'm going to go for Mauresmo in the women's. I know, both are top seeds, but it's just the way I see it going. They are top seeds for a reason.  Wink

The shoe is on the other foot! Muwahahaha! It's actually perfect for me. It's carried live, so when a match goes until midnight it's only 9pm here.

I like that too. If it's a successful challenge, they retain it for reuse, and get an extra challenge during a tiebreak.

It definitely adds a new twist to the game. It's also funny to hear McEnroe up in the booth being like "c'mon ______, challenge this one!" Then seeing if he was correct.

4-3 Bagdatis in the third set with Agassi up two sets, and I'm really torn about whom to root for! This is a great example of the perfect match-up to have during evening play, and some interesting challenges so far.

Yeah, I know, GAH! Maybe I'll just root for Baghdatis to win the fourth set too, so we can have a fifth that Agassi will win.  bigthumbsup

This is just too great of a match to end too soon!

What a game! Baghdatis really is making a name for himself. Although he lost, he has done some great things this year.

And Agassi, well, what can you say... Not many people (5) have won the four slams and had a career spanning 2 complete decades. Truly an exceptional player!!

I would love to see the farewell he gets when he finally departs this tournament. The farewell he got at Wimbledon was special enough, so what is it going to be like at his home slam!?

It'll probably be something like Jimmy Connors' comeback year at the Open in '91. It seemed like everyone was behind him and so sad to see him go after making it to the semi-finals that year. Funny that a guy like Sampras, who was such a good player technically, never really connected with the crowds as a personality.

I hope Andre makes it at least as far, and makes it a special year again. I can't help but hang onto every match he plays, because it could be his last!
