In January, I had the chance to go to SFO for the new years meet. While I couldn't be there for New Years eve night, I was still able to spend 3 days with the guys in SFO. I really enjoyed it there and I swore I would get back there again this year.

Last week I made it out to SFO again and I was able to take advantage of Superfly's hospitality and tour guide abilities when in town.

Superfly at an El Salvadorian restaurant. His stomach is a dowsing rod for food.

I took the BART train from SFO to Powel where I met Superfly. We had only walked for two minutes when we ran into another a.netter, though we didn't get his name.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4796/sfoa1pk0.jpg
Do you know who this A.netter is?

We made it back to Superfly's place, I dropped off my stuff, and we then went on a beer run. They didn't have my beer in stock, so while I was being indecisive about an alternate, Superfuly was at the other end of the aisle getting some chick's phone number and got an invite to a party that Saturday. Superfly in action!

That night we met up with Confuscius and WindowSeat for evening drinks. Two great a.netters that have my respect.

Wednesday we met JeffSFO for a late lunch near his office. Another great. A.netter!

JeffSFO and Superfly behind the Mini. Superfly's 1977 Lincoln is double the length of this car!

After lunch we made our way to Berkeley where we had a great time. Larry the Tour Guide led the way. We walked through UC Berkeley and made our way to Telegraph ave.

Now Berkeley, for you a.netters who don't know, is a haven for hippies and extremely "progressive" thinkers. I, a conservative, had wanted to see this place because it is so different. I had a great time in Berkeley and I would like to visit there again.

Sabena332's smoke shop. Hookahs in the display window, bongs covering the shelves inside

Just a block away was a Tarot Card reader. Curiosity got the best of me and I sat down to see what he had to say. The card reader said I was struggling with a decision, I am getting in my own way when it comes to this decision and I lack confidence in myself. I am depressed and angry at myself too. I am trying to find my "dominion" and he sees me relocating specifically to the South West US. He also said that if I get some confidence in myself and stop getting in my own way, I will be very successful in running a business of my own instead of working for someone else.

With the exception of the depressed part of the reading, I'd say that was a very accurate reading. He didn't tell me much more than I already know, but it was fun to try it and was inspirational in a way.

Me staring at the funny pictures on the tarot cards.

One last look at Berkeley before heading home

Now that JeffSFO was off work, we again met up with him and his neighbors for a party. Great times had by all! After JeffSFO and a few other left, the remainder of us headed to a bar called Nova somewhere on the other side of town before calling it a night.

Girl at the party. Can you touch your head to your toes?

On Thursday, I managed to get up early to see WindowSeat for lunch. On the way to his office, I got chased by an old bum who was shouting at me. Luckily, I could walk faster than the old guy and he gave up chase in short time. WindowSeat had just gotten out of a mind numbing meeting, so he was anxious to get out of the office.

Then it was back to Superfly's place to chill for the afternoon before heading to dinner and the airport for the red-eye home.

The inside of Superfly's car. Yes, that is an 8track player in the dash!

If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to let these a.netters know because they are great people to hang out with!

Nice report, nice documentation, nice brevity.
I had the pleasure of meeting Superfly (among others) at LAS last march, and I agree, a fine group.

Hey Andrew, nice pics--thanks for posting them. It was great seeing you again and I hope you can make it back here sometime soon.

To me, the highlight of his visit was last Wednesday night when I was driving him and Superfly over to my place and Green Day's "Basket Case" started playing on the car stereo. Andrew, who's regularly very laid back, quiet and thoughtful, all of the sudden starts belting out the song's lyrics at the top of his lungs from the back seat. It was friggin' hilarious but a good performance too.

Cheers,
Jeff

LOL!!

I had forgotten about that!

Just don't take me to a karaoke bar after I've had a few drinks...you'll be sorry you did

Thanks again for the great weekend!

That was Andrew acting out his anger and depression.

CFCUQ and ANCFlyer:
Thanks for the kind words!
I still need to make it up to Alaska. The jacket was a gift.

I am glad that Andrew had the opportunity to make it out here and to Berkeley. Despite being a self-proclaimed conservative, Andrew certainly has liberal tendencies and is well on his way to shifting to the left. When Andrew finds his "dominion", he will be a very liberal guy who isn't angry at himself.
Andrew will be a very independently wealthy businessman that doesn't need to play the corporate game. He'll have his big house in the hills above Berkeley and have a long ponytail and wear sandals and he'll practice Tibetan Buddhism.
He’ll also be married to a Yoga instructor.  bigthumbsup

Don't hold your breath...he's quiet but he's got loud convictions. Most conservatives and liberals seem to get their political identity magnified here but in person there's alot of common ground.

BTW (if anyone is still reading this thread) yes, it is a working 8 track. Superfly also has an adaptor for cassette tapes. Put your cassette in the adaptor and put it in the 8 track. But wait! There is more... If he wants to listen to CD's or an mp3 player, he puts the cassette adaptor (you know the thing that looks like a tape but plugs into the earphone jack) into the 8 track adaptor which is in the 8 track machine! Why upgrade when the system already works?

Quoting Superfly (Reply 14):

OK, you got me. That wasn't a tarot reader. He really is a drug dealer working under the guise of a tarot card reader. The money I gave him wasn't for the tarot reading, it was for the stuff he slipped me under the table after you walked away!  Wink

Superfly is a great guy. We met at the Vegas meet this past March. Had a few minutes to share at Fivebucks (more like 8 bucks on the Strip). I think of him every time I drive by a Wal-Mart.

Great pix, YYC. And, Larry, the interior on your Lincoln is RED? Ooo.

Actually it's white leather, white door panels, white headliner but the thick cut-pile carpet, dashboard, steering column and seat belts are 'cordovan' (burgundy).
