Just a question for those who know (and like) the band Tool... I just heard a song of them, but I didn't catch the name of it. It's an instrumental, not from Opiate, Undertow, Aenima or Lateralus, and I don't think it's on their new album yet either (haven't got it yet). It's a fairly short song (for their standards) with a 5/6 measure/beat. Starts off with a bass-riff and then a pounding guitar riff kicks in. Then someone (Maynard) grunts some words, but there are no other lyrics...

This is just a guess but is it "The Pot"? Or maybe "Vicarious" those are the two most played songs from the new "10 000 Days album" album (and only 2 that I know of from the new album that are played on the radio).
Hope that helps!

Both of those have quite a few lyrics, though, and neither has that guitar riff that Ed tabbed out in his reply.
Ah well, seems to be an unsolvable question.

Only thing I can think of that sounds like that would be Rosetta Stoned off 10,000 days. Far as I can tell, Tool has few rare songs floating around, none of which are instrumentals. Are you sure beyond a doubt that it's Tool, and where did you hear it? I'm very interested to hear this now.

I also started wondering if it was Tool at all, but I think it has to be... All the ingredients sound like Tool. But maybe it isn't...
I found it and downloaded the song as "Vicarious", but it's not Vicarious. I think someone got the name wrong making that MP3. I've got the album 10.000 Days now and Vicarious is whole different song. It's 2:49 long and starts off with some fog-horn sound. It doesn't sound as clean as the rest of the 10.000 Days album also. So perhaps it's a demo or old stuff?
Anyway... I'll just let it go. It's on my iPod, and that's what counts!
