I recived this email before, and i was wondering if anyone knew what it was, and why it was sent to me, on a private address i use for basically nothing!
Quote: HELLO Good day and Compliments,
I am writing this letter in confidence believing that if it is the wish
of
God for you to help me and my family, God almighty will bless and
reward you
aboundantly and you would never regreat this.
I am a female student from University of Burkina-Faso,uagadougou.
I am 25 yrs old. I'd like any person who can be caring, loving and home
oriented. I will love to have a long-term relationship with you and to
know
more about you. I would like to build up a solid foundation with you in
time
coming if you can be able to help me in this transaction.
Well, my father died earlier eight months ago and left I and my junior
brother behind. He was a king, which our town citizens titled him over
sixteen years before his death.
I was a princess to him and I am the only person who can take care of
his
wealth now because my junior brother is still young and my mother is
not
literate enough to know all my father's wealth. He left the sum of
(12.350
us dollars).
(TWELVE MILLION THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND US DOLLARS, )in a
security
company. This money was annually paid into my late fathers account from
Shell
petroleum development company(spdc)and chevron oil company operating in
our
locality for the compensation of youth and community development in our
jurisdiction.
I don't know how and what I will do to invest this money somewhere in
abroad, so that my father's kindred will not take over what belongs to
my
father and our family, which they were planning to do without my
present
because I am a female as stated by our culture
in the town.
Now,i urgently need your humble assistance to move this money from the
security company to your bank account, That is why I felt
happy when I saw your contact because I strongly believe that by the
grace
of God, you will help me invest this money wisely.
I am ready to pay 20% of the total amount to you if you help us in this
transaction and another 10% interest of Annual After Income to you, for
handling this transaction for us, which you will strongly have absolute
control over.
If you can handle this project sincerely and also willing to assist me
in
lifting this fund, kindly reach me.
Please, note that this transaction is 100% risk free and I hope to
commence
the transaction as quick as possible, I will send you my photograph as
soon
as I hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
PRINCESS AIDATA.

Have a go at the latter, obviously keep all personal details out of the equation, but string them along a bit. They are scammers after your money, so have a go at annoying them back.

Are you really that stupid to not work out by yourself that this is a scam?
You have been using the internet long enough to surely have seen this kind of email before.

I once found a chick on an online dating site that after a while told me that she was getting ill and desperatly needed money to get treatment..yeah right. I just broke the contact with her after that but i was thinking about playing along with it for a while just to see how she´d react
Most of the times it isn´t even a woman that is pushing this crap..it´s some gang of wankers trying to scam everything and everyone.

No I wouldn't - there are many stupid people in this world.

I am not out to dish out personal insults, but it doesn't take much common sense to work out there is something not right with it, does it?

You are right, it doesn't take too much common sense. But when the end of his post states "What do you guys think about it?" It usually means that he already understands that "something is not right with it" and is merely opening it up for discussion.
His profile shows he's quite young and obviously still learning. You can't learn without asking, this does not make you stupid and common sense is gained as you grow.
Now, if this was the second time he had seen this email and then posted a similar thread.....then you would be correct

I know someone who was out of work for a while and basically decided to email them to see what happened if you replied. He set up a fake PO Box address for them to send documents to and from and assumed a fake name so they could send papers and things. In the end it got to the stage where they wanted airline tickets bought for them so they could meet in a hotel in Amsterdam...at that point he stopped contacting them and cancelled the email address. He presumed they just wanted free airline tickets to Amsterdam.

Are you that perfect that you can stand on your pedistal and call others stupid? Have you never encountered something strange for the first time, and wondered "Hey, what's the deal with this?"
If you are that perfect, and that much smarter than the rest of us, stay the hell away from me... You're arragance is dangerous!

Get real mate.
One look at this email and you know its junk / spam or whatever you want to call it. If you seriously think it could be genuine then you are stupid.
I get many of these kinds of emails a day to just my gmail account alone, never mind my other accounts. Assuming he has only been using the internet since he registered here (doubtful), six months ago, he hasn't ever seen one of those before? I don't think so.

We know it is a scam simply because we have received them in the past, and also because we know there is no such thing as a "free" lunch. However, to be perfectly honest and frank, what was your reaction when you received the first email along these lines. Did you have temporary visions of untold wealth, and suddenly found the solution to clearing all your debts etc?
If there was a small chance that the email was genuine, clearly the sender is after someone to "launder" his money, so that earnings from immoral crimes can be "cleaned" and then be deposited into an account without arising the suspicion of the regulators etc. It might sound crazy, but if you hold a professional position you have a duty to report the approach to the police, otherwise you could be accused of being an accessory under the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime regulations in the UK. Now if you report the email to the police or whoever, they are hardly likely to take any notice particularly if they receive thousands every hour. The simplest solution, delete it permanently from your system and forget about it.
