Lookout infantry! duck

At Ft. Hood, a special task force has mobilized. Female soldiers are being qualified in heavy vehicles, including tanks. However, their mission is limited to loading/off-loading the vehicles from transport craft, and they will not be operating in combat situations, though, they will still earn a combat service medal.

To me, this is a throwback to the WASPs,and it's the first step at getting more women qualified in related/similar fields. It just got me thinking, as I've never seen female tank crew, how many are out there? Any female commanders? A soldier is a soldier, and a military vehicle is a military vehicle, but this has all the makings of ANC's dream woman!

No, but they've already had mirrors installed behind the visors.

Chances are if it was a female driver joke, it'll still work.  Wink

Please, go ahead and post it, verbatim. I'm sure we can draw some direct correlations from it.

Well you just knew it was going to happen eventually.

They did this to helicopter pilots a decade ago. Hell... I just flew with a female captain this past Monday. We were a flight of 5, we were chock 4, she was flying, and we were going through a narrow mountain valley north of Mosul. She lost sight of chock 3, immediately let go of the controls and announced, I've lost chock sight. NO ONE is flying this helicopter.

Two disks in front of us is another helicopter, two disks behind us is another helicopter, and 500 meters on either side of us are mountains. It's hot outside, we're in high DA, and we've heavy with troops... so I have little power to "climb" out of this shit storm. Not to mention I was inside the cockpit working the radios, had my kneeboard open, my map open when she decided to just "fuck it" and give up flying. So I had to drop everything, come on the controls, I was flying cross cockpit, couldn't see the flight and couldn't break from formation. If it wasn't for my crew chiefs, we might have had a really bad day.

Sometime females just present unusual problems... like taking a piss. When we're up there for 4-5 hours, we don't land to take a piss. We freakin use a water bottle. Can't do that with females.

None. In whole or in part. Ditto Infantry and Artillery. Throw back to ther days when Little Janie Rottencrotch it's thought should be a good woman and stay home with the kids and have dinner ready for Hubby when he gets home. . . .

And the PC angle of course. Bad enough Tommy Tentpeg gets killed in action but to have Little Janie's guts spilled out all over the place would just be toooooo much for the simply minded general American public.

Put women in tanks, I don't give a shit. As long as she can hump that 120mm APFSDST round into the gun tube in less than 5 seconds or so, I don't care if they're male, female, straight, gay, lesbian, martian, whatthehell ever. Just "Git 'er Done".

I do find the crack about the wiper blades rather humerous . . .

What did that thing weigh in at?

I used to have a buddy who was in the last M110A2 unit in Germany. I don't remember what he said those HE shells weighed, but it couldn't have been right.

Actually I would be curious to see how an all-female crew would time in fixing a thrown track.

That's not so bad.....compared to what I see some fisherman's baggage pack in at.

I looked up that 8 inch shell.....only got 200lbs in comparison. I just remember "not light" from when I knew that guy.
