I've noticed recently that there are quite a few threads about people deleting themself. I know we care a lot about each other on here, but do we have to start a thread about every single person leaving? As I say before, I know a lot of people are friends and most people care about other members, but most of the time, we know when a member has deleted themself.

I don't really care about anyone on here, for the most part. But that's just me.

Trouble is Harry, some people DO care about some other people, and so want to share their feelings about people leaving. I have to admit it does get a tad annoying when the people going are people you couldn't give a monkeys about, but when some you DO care about goes, then you want to know about it.

I guess it's just something we are all going to have to put up with. Hell, you don't have to read the thread. I mean, I couldn't give a flying wossname about football (American or real) but I don't complain about the myriad of posts that go up about it.

Selective quoting is nice, isn't it? If you had read my whole post, you would have seen that I said:

Quoting Newark777 (Reply 1):

I don't care about the threads, and don't mind people starting them. I was just commenting on the fact that everyone seems to think this is one happy family. Maybe it means I should just let them be. Maybe it means a lot of the people here need to make real life friends.

To be honest on this site i care about 3 people Azza40, Airpacific747 and Hawk21M, if they left they'd be the only ones id miss and i wouldnt start a post and i dont see the point, people will find out anyway when they see the blue flag. It really is just for a post count, if you ask me they should just be deleted.

Post counts mean diddle squat, so I don't see how this is valid reasoning. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Those are some sad Quotes.
I thought we where a community that cared about each other we are ANETTERS and ask each other questions and communicate with each other.
Or was i wrong.?

I do my best to help others when they need it, but in the end, it doesn't come close to real friendships or relationships. If a.net disappeared tomorrow, all that would happen would be that I would be more productive, and life would go on as normal. Can't say that about other communities I'm in.

I may have come off a bit harsh, but in the end, it's just the internet.

Harry with all due respect i have to disagree with you here.
From the emails i get now and from the people i have met through this site its like my extended family.
For example i met some people that i would not have if it wasn't for Anet like Paul Markman and Chris Griffiths to name a few.
If they leave it would have an impact on me personally.
They feel like real friends to me
Cheers

Hey, if you've been able to make those types of relationships, I'm happy for you. I was just speaking from my own experiences.

I understand Harry but the saying goes never put all your eggs in one basket.
People are different and its sad that you have not left provisions to make future friends and get along on a friendship relation from this site.
But at the end of the day its all up to you.

Some people firmly believe in quantity over quality. Can't explain it...they just believe it.

I guess I'm just going to have to not understand this issue. I don't see the value anyone could possibly get from having some sort of inflated post count number, or its significance to others.

No i dont carea bout everyone on this site, hell if say Kaz or you or anyone was to leave tomorow i would still come here, i would still post and i wouldnt make a post saying OMG .... has left what a shame. simply because i see it as pointless, the three people who i mentioned are the 3 i keep contact with outside of A.net (aswell as a few others) and there the ones if they were to leave id be more puzzled about and would query with them personally why they left and i wouldnt go round on this site asking other people.

Quoting JumboJim747 (Reply 10):
Well said as always Andy

If you read my first post on here thats almost similar to what i said, he said some people care about few others, exactly what i said but i use and example, your a bit contradictory here.  Smile

Quoting JumboJim747 (Reply 12):

Same with me!! this place is great to meet a people, but what i hate is, like when kaz left there was a post about it by the now departed Jap, Now why was that post nesseescary? I didnt give a shit she'd gone and neither did a hell of alot of people, so why not keep it off of A.net and just make a mass email and send it to everyone on here RR?

Seriously, if there is such a thing as growing up internet-wise, "not taking it too seriously" is one major part of it. If people delete their usernames, it should at least not be themselves who's making the fuss - and no one needs to give a reason for popping $25.
