Eddie Stobart Ltd (ESL) is delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated rail freight service, which will be contracted to Tesco plc.

This is the first fully liveried dedicated freight train to go into operation in the UK. The service will commence on Tuesday 19th September 2006 and will be the start of a 3 year contract between the parties to move consumer goods from Daventry in the Midlands to Tesco’s Distribution Centre at Livingston in Scotland.

At the head of the train will be a brand new environmentally friendly Class 66 locomotive.

Yesterday morning as I got out the shower I opened the bathroom window to demist the place and what was chugging past when I did so? Yep, the Tesco train!

All the trucks have a big blue Tesco livery on with 'Low CO2 emission's' and 'Putting freight back on the rails' or something similar. You'll have to forgive me but I was hungover, wet and naked at the time! Nice mental image eh?

Just because I know a Class 220 Voyager from a Class 221 Super Voyager or a Class 390 Pendolino from a Class 92 doesn't mean I'm a train spotter!

Let me tell you something right. Do you know what it's like to live by the West Coast mainline and see endless Class 66's and 67's going past all day bearing the name EWS? Do you?! Everytime I'm reminded of Lew's ugly mug, it's not fair!

Oh bugger, actually, there goes one now! It's pitch black and I couldn't see it but I recognised the noise!

Ahhhh, shoot me, please and pass the vodka. I need that shit.

Hey, I had it better than Alex. When I lived in London I could look out the back of my place of sit on my roof landing and catch a look at the line between Clapham Junction and Victoria AND look up and catch planes in the pattern for Heathrow.
