So get this. I've got friends in low places that have queued me into a pretty sweet opportunity. Quarterly, the State of Utah does a re-validation for all of it's law enforcement on alcohol related procedures. So basically, every three months a group of cops have to come in and show that they can determine an inebriated individual, administer a breathalyzer correctly, roadside procedures, etc.
So later this month a UHP trooper will pick me up at around 10 in the morning. They'll feed me free booze until 2 or 3 pm, and then I get a free ride home from another kind trooper.
So I'm not only (selflessly) volunteering to provide a civic service, I get drunk FREE courtesy of the state! Ya gotta love it...

I checked in to the Marriott in SLC (the new one downtown) a few years back, went down to the lobby bar to have my before dinner 'appetizer' and found it quite baffling that one could order a drink, but not a double. One could however order a drink and a sidecar (extra shot). Now, does that make any damn sense at all?
