Dear Those On The Far Left And Far Right

Hi;

This is the center speaking to you. You know, the group in the middle who is caught in between your constant screaming at each other? You know, the one's that aren't ideologically driven, and just want a little common sense to break out in politics and government?

Have a few questions for you.

First to the Far Left:

-Why do you always blame your own country first, for all the ills in the world? Why is it America's fault for everything? It seems no matter what, you have this bitterness against your own nation?

-What is your love affair with Political Correctness? Why do you CARE what the name of a sports' team is? Why do you feel the need to revise history, so that the feelings of Japanese aren't hurt when we mention Pearl Harbor? Or that no one is offended by anything. Part of being free is my RIGHT to offend people if my views don't agree with theirs. Why are you so against such freedom?

-Why does it seem many of you have this mentality that there's no such thing as personal responsibility? You blame the tobacco companies for the smoking habits of people; you blame fast food restaurants when some fat ass who can't stop eating fast food, gets too big for his/her own good, and it's a health problem?

What happened to personal resposnsibility, instead of thinking everything is a lawsuit just waiting to happen? Leave the lid on that freaking cup of HOT coffee; don't eat that Big Mac every freaking day; don't smoke 12 packs of ciggies a day; don't gamble till you're deep in debt; tell your daughter it's her fault she wasn't good enough to make the volleyball team.

-Why are you so against defending this nation? It seems that, with many of you, we aren't worth defending, or we should never get angry when someone in the world pisses on us (But God help us, with many of you, if we defend ourselves). Yes, there is the need for education; for helping those in need here at home and around the world. But guess what? There are some nasty people in the world, and we DO need to have equipment and people to fight them.

-Why are you so against the word "God"? It isn't a four-letter word. Why should His name, or a Christmas tree, or a Creche, be something that shouldn't be seen? Again, this probably falls under PC, but what's wrong with that? Most people ARE people of faith, and they believe that God exists in some form? Why try to keep His name out of sight? Don't give me Church and State, OK? Singing Christmas songs at Christmas time never hurt anyone.

Now, to those on the Far-Right.

-Why are you so anti-people? You are against the poor; you're against the Middle Class; you're against gays; you're against most who aren't Americans. What made you so bitter towards those that don't have, or those who don't share your exact views on life?

-Why is it that the rich, in your view, are more important than the everyday American, who does their best just to make it? You seem to take glee in seeing the rich take in more and more, while the rest struggle just to make ends meet. Why is that?

-What is your beef against the world? We, after all, are the minority on this planet, and, believe it or not, not everyone loves this nation, or wants to be an American. We will never dominate this planet, why not at least TRY to get along with as much of it as we can? Sure, there are jerks like OBL who we'll never assuage, but why piss on our friends and allies, every time they don't agree with us.

-What do you CARE what goes on in someone's bedroom? Why do you CARE if a gay couple wants to give testament to their love for each other in marriage? Why do you CARE about the sexual proclivities of individuals (so long as they don't involve children, that is)?

-What does it matter to you if a gay person wants to serve their nation in the armed forces? If they make good soldiers, sailors, airmen or marines, WHO CARES? Stop this "don't bend down to get the soap" stereotype of gays. They're no more a threat to national security than straights. Let's grow up and get over that.

-Why do you want to gloss over the skeletons in our closet, as a nation? The treatment of American Indians; the internment of Japanese-Americans, many who's son's fought and died for us in WWII; Abu Gharib; My Lai. Everything makes up the mosaic of what this nation has been, is and will be-including our blemishes. Someone pointing them out isn't a bad thing, to be honest. It just shows, over time, how we (hopefully) grow and mature as a people. Just like the far left blaming everything on the U.S., your attempt to deflect blame for everything is just as bad.

And finally-can the two of you stop screaming at each other, and maybe sit down and TALK? It wouldn't hurt. The rest of us are kind of tired of all this yelling.

Signed,

The non-ideologically driven Center.

And fear mongering. If we are supposed to be so much safer because of the last few years, why do we have to be afraid of electing someone who is not a democrat or republican?

This is coming from one of the most angry and emotional members here at this site. You do have a tendency to 'lose it' and go off on tirades in your post.

You're spot-on with both groups except in conspiracy theories they seem to be mirror images of each other, they kind of complete the circle..

Angry? Hardly. Emotional, i.e., deeply believing what I believe in? Absolutely.

You, my friend, are in that "left" group, much as I like and respect you.

And, as one, Supe, who was called both a fascist and communist, in the same thread-the former by someone on the far left, and the latter by someone on the far right, I'm comfortable with my believe I'm somewhere in the middle.

Falcon, you really are a howl! First you're America, and now you're "The non-Ideologically Driven Centre", whatever that is when it's at home. Is it something to do with people in the middle who don't have ideas or something? Seeing that you said you liked being serious in another thread it must be very important, but don't you know that using big words with hyphens only frightens people, so why not stick to just being "America"? We can all get our heads around that, and it's easy to spell so we can answer your questions easier. And you certainly have a lot of them! Don't you have Google on your computer? If you type your questions into the little box at the top of that when you open it you'll get ALL the answers to ALL the questions you have! There's no point in asking the people in here anyway, as they'll only give you the wrong answers. Before I go, just one more question, have you many more letters to write? It's ten to one here and I really have to get to bed or I'll be wrecked in the morning. Do us a favour and keep a few for tomorrow. You'll have half of Europe being late for work in the morning, and that would never do.

Thanks Falcon84.
Sorry about that. Perhaps it's the way I interpret your post. My fault. Embarrassment
Thanks again for putting me in the "left" group.  Smile

I agree with some of your assessment of the left. I can't stand the ambulance chasers, those who blame Ronald McDonald & Grimace. It irks me that people are offended by Santa Clause, Christmas trees and candy canes.

I guess I am not as far-left as people may think. At this website, I am certainly as left as you can get, but then again this website is littered with conservatives!  Silly

Which one is it, BB? First I was a "hoot"; now I'm a "howl". Make up your mind-and stop taking this place so damned seriously already.

I've been a centrist for a long time, my friend. Have some liberal views, some conservative. As Charlienorth said on here, I'm a "neolibracon".  Smile

Well you were a hoot at first, and now your a howl, which is really a hoot, only much, much, better. If you carry on like this you'll be a scream before long and by tomorrow God-only-knows you'll have us rolling in the aisles. Now look what you've gone and done? You have half the 30,000 people on this site starting letters and I just can't keep up with them. I know you're busy being serious and all that, but if you have a minute if I were you I'd run out and copyright the idea quickly. You'd make a fortune.

(Now look what you've done, I forgot to add my name and I've had to go back and edit this. It really is very late and I have matchsticks in my eyes just trying to keep awake in case I miss any more of your letters. Can you message me and tell me who you're going to write to next so I don't have to wait up half the night? The suspense is killing me).

-Why do you always blame your own country first, for all the ills in the world? Why is it America's fault for everything? It seems no matter what, you have this bitterness against your own nation?

Why does everyone always make this generalization?

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):
-What is your love affair with Political Correctness?

What love affair with political correctness?

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):
Why do you CARE what the name of a sports' team is?

Because I'd be pissed too if a bunch of fat cats in charge of highly lucrative sports franchises were portraying my ancestors as goofy looking savages. All of the team names in question hail from a time when negative portrayals of indigenous peoples was acceptable in mainstream society. People don't seem to have too much of an issue of letting go of cowboys and indians, I don't see why they have such a hard time changing the name of a sports team. It all ties in with the general American reluctance to come to terms with a genocidal chapter of our history.

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):
Why do you feel the need to revise history, so that the feelings of Japanese aren't hurt when we mention Pearl Harbor?

That's a pretty extreme example. If anything, most of the people I know on the far left are more concerned with actual histories being ignored than manipulated.

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):
Part of being free is my RIGHT to offend people if my views don't agree with theirs. Why are you so against such freedom?

Agreed. Fire away.

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):
-Why does it seem many of you have this mentality that there's no such thing as personal responsibility?

I'd argue that this isn't true. The very reason people like me push for things like legalized marijuana is because we believe that the majority of the people who use it are responsible enough not to get behind the wheel of a car/truck/airplane/forklift when under the influence. Your body is the one thing in the world that you own without question, and so long as you aren't harming anyone else, what you put into it is your own goddamn business.

Quoting Falcon84 (Thread starter):

-Why are you so against defending this nation?

I'm not. I am however, against spending vast sums of money on militarizing space, developing new weapons of mass destruction and excessive military spending in general. American military policy isn't about defense, it's about dominance, and that's what I have a problem with. If we're truly concerned about defense, we should advocate for a military that's stationed at home on our borders (not in Korea, Germany, Okinawa, etc.) ready to engage any outside aggressor that crosses into our country. Personally, I'd like to see more state control over defense; foreign invaders would be hard-pressed to defeat a military force that had been trained exclusively on their home soil and had completely mastered their environment (see The Winter War between Finland and Russia).
