So it appears, that between a few resellers, I have been royally screwed for 2 months now trying to get a fridge (luckily have only been here for about a month).

Does anybody know of a good website where they actually have stock in (as in not just the website programmed to have everything available) and which ships out in under a week.

I am getting quite fed up with the (lack of) service and don't care attitude in this foolish country. RhaaaaT

Get one from Currys or Comet - they ship stuff like that quickly.

What happened to actually going to a shop and buying a fridge instead of ordering one off the internet?

Do they have the regular sized refridgerators available in the UK? All I've ever seen was the dorm size variety.

Argos?

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Argos

Argos can have long lead times on white goods.

Taking the additional express delivery service often shortens the delivery time considerably.

It's been well over a year since I worked for them, so things may have changed.

Exactly, get off your lazy arse and go to your local retail park!

I know it's probably novel to you, buying things not via the internet. But you walk into the shop, look for a fridge, hand over the cash, and take it away with you, either in your car, or a mate's car, or have it delivered!

The problem is, I have already done quite a few high street shops:

Argos kept me waiting 2 months (wasnt really a problem as wasnt in flat whilst it was on order), but then cancelled when last week they said I shouldnt expect it until mid-November (that was after the previous model wasnt shipped by them again).

I went to other high street shops and the consensus is 10 days for delivery.

Well, last time I had to get a fridge it came about a day later.  Confused

If you go to a Currys, you can take one away with you then (assuming you have a car, or get a taxi or something). Delivery should only be a few days as they are stocked at the DC's (normaly).

Can you not simply hop in your vehicle of choice, run down the street to the local vendor of your choice and snatch up a fridge of your choice?

Last time I needed a fridge - three years ago - I was out the door and back, Fridge in hand (well, on a hand truck really), in less than 2 hours?

Thats exactly what I'm thinking too. Just as long as you haven't got any women around to make a fuss over what colour it is then you should be fine stirthepot

I hear they have those things in stores now.

Well in all fairness they don't have pickup trucks there, so chances are whatever friges he gets is going to end up weighing more then the car. Probably crush the damm thing.

But this does sort of illustrate why I am willing to sacrifice some gas milage for the convience of being able to not have to pay a couple of teamsters to bring my major purchases home.
