Go Stars! But since I have a sinking feeling that my Stars are not going to do squat this year, Go Canadiens! Bob Gainey, Guy Carbonneau, and Kirk Muller all in coaching/management positions...wow, all retired Stars players are going to Montreal! If anyone is up for catching a game up there let me know, I'm trying to get to at least 2 Canadiens games and 2 Bruins games.

I still don't know how people can still chear for the laffs.

I think that my Canucks will have a terrific season. They now have one of the top 3 goaltenders in the league. I don't think they will win the cup, but they should go atleast a couple of rounds into the playoffs.

Although I don't believe Luongo is one of the "top 3" goaltenders, he's definitely in the top 5. Just judging from last season, I would have to say the top 5 goaltenders are:

1) Brodeur (Had a shaky start last year, but showed why he's won his cups and won his awards in the past)
2) Kipprusoff (It's more of a tie between Kipper and Brodeur, so take your pick)
3) Vokoun (Often looked over when mentioning top goaltenders)
4) Luongo (Has always been pummelled with the most shots in the league, but continues to have a save percentage above .900)
5) Lundqvist (I'm hesitant to rank him, but you can't deny his talent, especially considering he just came off his rookie season)

I've been waiting to see what Luongo can do when he's playing behind a half-decent defense and a team that can score goals. Now's the time of judgement... has Luongo been a stellar goalie all this time waiting for his chance to shine?

Ummmmm...stats to back that claim? As far as I can see, in the goals against per game column, Anaheim ranks 7th, with Calgary being 1st in that category...

Having Pronger should help them, no matter how whipped he is by his wife. I actually think the Northwest Division is pretty wide open this year. Edmonton and Vancouver are both big wild cards, and Calgary should be strong again. I'm looking forward to this season.

I definite think that Atlanta will make the playoffs this season. What killed us last season was the whole goaltending merry-go-round after Lehtonen and Dunham got hurt. We're a lot deeper in net for this season with Johan Hedberg (MOOOOOOOOOOOOSE! I actually had to explain to a guy at the game tonight that the fans weren't booing Hedberg, they were yelling "Moose".) and Fred Brathwaite (Who was one of the RSL's best goalies the last two seasons) backing up Lehtonen. I am a little concerned in regards to who will be our #1 center since Savard went to the Bruins, but I think things will work themselves out in that regard. In some ways, a trained monkey could feed Kovalchuk or Hossa and get a decent number of assists.

Fingers crossed that the stars can get something together this season. i mean, sure, we got rid of some of our most decent players, but the management must know what they are doing... right?

Go Stars.

I agree wholeheartedly. The Thrashers are a big reason why the Pens won't make the playoffs this year. Too many teams to leapfrog, I believe we are better than the Isles, Caps, Panthers, and maybe Bruins. You'll love Hedberg. I know I did.
