I would go on E-Bay, old comic book sales shows and websites and comic book conventions to research the collection first. If you have very rare older comics, it may be better to go to a professional auction service. With some idea of the price, then you can set a reserve so you don't get taken. You could also contact local comic book dealers for an evaluation with you present, but check around for info as to the most reputable ones.
