Hey, since my last post is archived, I had a new question. Just got the 90 Buick Regal worked on today... oil change and drain and fill. Since the car has 48K on it, I asked them if the timing belt needed to be looked at.
They told me the car did not have one.
Huh? If a car doesn't have a timing belt on it, what is in its place?
Greeneyes53787, Superfly, SilverAngel, you've got dibs since you answered last time! But anyone with good knowledge please post. Thanks.

The 3.8Litr V6 (I presume that this is what you have) is very durable, and has a timing chain, not a timing belt.
Timing chain should not routinely wear out in less than 150-175,000 miles, but you need to check (around 100,000 or so) that hte tension and tensioner is ok.
Strong motor. Take care of it, and it'll take care of you.
...three miles from BRONS, clear for the ILS one five approach...
