Hi all,
next week I am travelling down to Buenos Aires for a business trip for some days, I will not have much time to spend beside the work in the city but it would be great to get some tips from you specially what to do friday afternoon/night in the city, what are good articles for shopping etc...?

Hey Avianca... Buenos Aires is a perfect city...you can enjoy walking in Florida street, go to Puerto Madero...where they have good restaurants such as "Cabaña Las Lilas" and "Happening".
There´s a "Ateneo" bookstore in Calle Santa Fe where used to be a Theatre, beautiful.
Walk in Recoleta, more restaurants and nice shops.
Go to Cafe Tortoni for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
Mamba (Museo de Arte de Buenos Aires) is small but beautiful and near Abasto shopping center.
If you have time for shows, go to La esquina de Gardel...I like it. And go to The Theater Gran Rex, maybe you are lucky to find "Les Luthiers" in show.

Avianca, I'm sorry your question was not answered by one local, though I will say the tips here are good!
Unfortunately though, the continued harrassment and anti-argentine statements by many members of the non-av forum has led to a virtual dissapearance of regular posters here. There used to be many more in years past, but now there is not one that I know of that is a regular today. There were probably 10 people three years ago, and you would think now there would be many more because of increased internet, but no. Most stick to general aviation where there isn't such hostility, you could post your question there! Cheers.
My internet was not shut down, the internet has shut me down

Quoting Avianca (Thread starter): specially what to do friday afternoon/night in the city, what are good articles for shopping etc...?
For your shopping ,you should visit Barrio EL ONCE where you will find the best prices on many items like leather jackets.
For your Friday evening ,i suggest a visit to LA VENTANA at San Telmo for a Tango show with dinner "un bife de Lomo con un vino tinto"

RE: Buenos Aires - For The First Time! (by Marambio Jan 20 2006 in Non Aviation)
...I wrote quite a few suggestions about Buenos Aires for foreigners. I think it may be useful for a first-timer in the city.
Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Marimbo, Vielen Dank!
