Word is out.
Mel Brooks newest musical "Young Frankenstein" will premiere in Chicago in Summer, 2007.Susan Stroman directs Kristin Chenowith, Sutton Foster, Marc Kudish, Roger Bart, Cloris Leachman. WOW!!!
The musical should likely find a home in New York in the fall of 2007. It will more than likely replace The Producers at the St. James Theater, which, while still one of the best shows around, has pretty much run its course. Rumors of The Producers closing have been coming for months now and I predict it to fade away into the sunset sometime during the winter season.

My all time favorite Brooks' Film! This alone might be worth a trip to New York - but I have to admit, I have a hard time picturing anybody other than Madeline Kahn in the role of the fiancee will take some getting used to. . ."Oh Sweet Mystery of LIFE. . . . "

I'm definitely going to be going to see this one as soon as tickets go on sale. Cloris Leachman's involvement is what will make it super extra ulber terrific.
For those out there who dont know who some of the others are, well..
Kirstin Chenowith has been in a fair number of Broadway shows including Wicked, but you probably know her from the Old Navy commercials and the films RV, and Bewitched.
Roger Bart has done a few Broadway shows but is known for being George on Desperate Housewives, the guy obsessed with Marcia Cross' character, and also did the film, The Stepford Wives.
Sutton Foster is a Broadway actress who appeared in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, and The Drowsy Chaperone.
Marc Kudish is a stage actor with a number of very respectable credits including Beauty and the Beast, Joseph, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Assassins, High Society, and The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I'm definitely in for this one. I was not the worlds biggest Producers fan, but I'm a die hard Mel Brooks humor guy and he writes like no other Combat Engineer I know.
I believe it's: Kristin Chenoweth
Damn she's hot looking!!! I couldn't find any pics that show how petite she is but if good things come in small packages... DAMN..
The bitch can sing like no other female (save MAYBE Annie Lennox) I know of.

i knew it was one or the other when i typed that in. i should have just checked her homepage, i guess. or my Wicked playbill, which is about four feet behind me. oh well, i was being lazy and on the phone with a hot guy at the time. so you know what comes first....
Quoting TedTAce (Reply 4): But The Deal Breaker: Shes a bible thumper
Ha.
Chenoweth is a Christian, but was disinvited from a Women of Faith conference in September 2005 because of her accepting attitude toward the gay community.[2] While growing up, she was a Southern Baptist, but now attends a non-denominational church.

Anybody in this case would have to be quite open-minded, especially to the monster's 'schwantzstuker'....the refernce to 'what knockers' and many other references.
The movie is still one of the funniest I have ever seen, (along with "Blazing Saddles", also by Mel Brooks) and was a great homage to the classic horror movies of the 1930 to 1950's. Some of the props used to do the movie were actually used in those older films. I think this musical will do very well, it's casting seems good, and there will be a huge audience for it.

Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 12): Hmm? You like musicals? Are you gay or something??
No, I just play one on a.net
Seriously I'm not gay, but I grew up next door to a Male Purser for Pan Am and was always hanging out at his place because he always had hot PAA FA's as roomates. Not exactly the BEST tip for most men who want to date FA's (be friendly with their gay male roomates) but I was 17 and I got what I wanted
Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 12): I like them like that...hmm...wife is barely over 5 feet tall (short).
Kristin is 4' 11"
Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 12): Never say never, Ted. I have found that the more conservative women I have dated tend to have wilder tendencies where it counts.
I know what your saying, but she's a Leo just like my ex-wife to be... would never work.
Quoting AndesSMF (Reply 12): I do have to admit to never have seen 'The Producers'. What are your opinions about that musical?

Yes, the first year will pretty much be a sell out and will guarantee an investment recoup, kind of like Lane and Broderick in The Producers. What remains to be seen will be the replacement casting.

Absolutely hysterical.

I just hope they don't remake the movie, like they did with The Producers. The new version of the Producers was OK, but I don't think they could ever remake Young Frankenstein.

I hope so, too. What I would rather them see do in something like this case is just simply film the original Broadway cast like they did with Julie Andrews in 1995's musical version of Victor/Victoria. Instead of remaking the movie, they just offered the musical itself for your viewing pleasure. There's quite a few musicals out there that are on dvd/vhs, what have you. I wish they would make more available like this.
