How do you feel about the coffee and various comestibles purveyed by international donut chain Tim Hortons? Do you love it? Hate it? Suffer ye from indifference? Why or why not? Discuss.

Hate it, mostly because they use the Robusta type bean in their coffee, which I find tastes like chemicals when compared to the superior Arabica bean coffees.

In my one, and so far only, visit to Toronto, I sampled the plain donuts and coffee combo from Tim Hortons - I found the coffee to be the standard bland affair, coffee and cream helped. The donut sat in my gut like a hockey puck for about 3 hours - Funny, it looked the same coming out as it did going in. For a desperate craving that had to be squashed, for lunch I sampled a Turkey Bacon club sandwich, it tasted as if the Turkey was clubbed about 4 mos. prior and left to age in some Edmonton area oil field, the bacon had the consitancy of lettuce - grown in Antarctica. Yet, I have an iron gut and the 'lunch' did the job. All in all, I can appreciate my Canadian brothers and sisters need for sustenance in those cold, dark winters and how Tim Hortons can be a beacon of light for those who are hungry.

Love the donuts, not crazy about the coffee. Pretty standard stuff.
But for the love of god Mark, get off your ass and try it yourself! There's something like 10 or 11 locations in greater Rochester. I don't know whrere you live, but there's bound to be one in your neck of the woods.

Not crazy about it at all. Went to Toronto for LASIK a couple of years ago, and my daughter was craving some Timbits so I went along with her. Had some kind of glazed thing (yuk) and a black coffee (double yuk).
Next time, I'll pass.

Sandwiches are ok, donuts are ok, don't drink the coffee.... it's all OK stuff, I mean, it's a donut shop for crying out loud, not exactly beacons of fine cuisine now are they? They do the job if you're hungry and for the measly amount you pay for the food you can't really expect anything that will blow you away...
Having said that they sure do seem to whoop Coffee Time's butt! And their success must be down to something, I mean there are now 4 Tim's within a 5 minute drive from where I live.... there were none 5 years ago!

I have never even heard of Tim Horton's; there is none in Cleveland, Ohio and vicinity. Sounds like Dunkin' Donuts and Panera Bread, both of which we have here.

Tim's beats the hell out of Dunkin' any day. If you have a hankering, you should drive to Buffalo or Columbus, both of which have Tim Hortons'
I love Tim's coffee as well as old fashioned and sour cream dip Timbits. I am in Ontario about once a month and I must have a medium black or light milk and share a 10 pack with my girlfriend at least once per visit.

Coffee: I love it. Wife, kids and i go regularly to the corner for a coffee and two timbits. It's a nice walk.
Sandwiches: ok, i guess, i usually have the chili.
All in all, i find the coffee there to be very good and go out of my way to get one.
I wish George would have his people loan me some money to get a franchise.
Note: i have had bad coffee there as well, not many, but a few.

Starbucks=Fourbucks.
Coffee Time = Toiley Time (toilet)
Country Style = Out of Style
Tim Hortons = Canadian Eh!
LOL
All in all, I actually enjoy Country Style coffee better than Tim's. Although, I rarely have it, as they're hard to find.
Tim's is .. middle-of-the-ground. Unless you drink Timothy's or Starbucks or Second Cup, where you need to go to school to learn how to order, Tim's is a sufficient, quick cup of coffee.
I find that Tim's quality varies by store. I think it has to do with how often the store cleans their coffee brewers.. The store near my house is forever cleaning them. When I'm in the drivethru, they are always cleaning it.

I'm not a huge coffee fan, so I can't comment on that, but I do love their bagels, sandwiches (garden vegetable for me ) and hot chocolate. It's consistently good stuff at reasonable prices.
I always get a little nervous when I'm in a small town that doesn't have a Timmy's.

They have a good cup of coffee there. I go there instead of the one near my house when i go to the rink. The one at Townline and Kind is hit and miss.
I find the one at the new A&P off Franklin isn't all that great. I am, however, a fan of the one on the Cambridge Center side of Hespeler Road, as well as that brand new one on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls. Probably the most satisfying one was the one near Union Station in Toronto because it was so damn cold out that morning.
