It's Thursday afternoon, and I've been counting the minutes left till 5 o' clock to leave the office and go home. I'm tired, I'm sleepy, tomorrow is a holiday and I can't wait to get some deserved rest. I start clearing my desk and storing everything, while I wait for my boss to return and sign some papers.
So my boss comes in at 5:15, signs the papers, and calls the managers to a meeting. Meanwhile, I hand the papers to my coworker who will use them, grab my stuff and head for the door... when my phone rings. There has been an incident with one of the companies that hire our security services, and they need me to prepare the incident report.
Now I have to wait until my boss and the managers discuss all the events that happened, all the actions taken past, present, and future, and all sorts of relevant and irrelevant info; then I can type the report, and they'll discuss it to no end until a final draft is reached. Ugh!

On somedays shit happens. Just got to deal with it. Remember the number of times getting dispatch to an accident or dealing with some screw up at the end of a shift and having to book his/her ass at the local jail, causing one having to work late, (at least overtime pay was involved, which I doubt you're getting).

Is this when I'm supposed to laugh at you? You're offline on MSN though, so maybe you're done by now....haha
Not quite. I managed to catch a ride back home with one of the supervisors. Still, 1:30 to travel the 25km from the office to my home?! I so hate the evening traffic.

"Sorry but my phone was on silent and I obviousky never heard it"
"Sorry but my phone was in my bag anf I never heard it ringing"
"Sorry but I left my phone in the car/work car, so I didn't get the message intill later" (lost count on how many times I've used that excuse)
New Zealand has a public holiday on monday, so I'm happy as it means I can sleep in.
