Im trying to fly to DEL from AKL anytime between 13th to 25th of Dec and return in approx 3 weeks. The only seat I was able to get was on 13th of Dec on MH for NZD2600 incl tax(USD1794). I know this is peak time but I am not really able to travel at a different time due to work comittments.
1. Is it possible to get a cheaper fare at this time? If so how? BTW this fare os from flight center.
2. Will it be considerably cheaper if I postponed my trip to around mid Jan?

It will be definitely cheaper if you postpone your trip to Jan. I had travelled to Auckland from Mumbai in Jan 2003 and Nov 2004. The only reason why I chose to travel in Jan and Nov instead of Dec. was the big difference in the fare.
An airplane might disappoint any pilot but it'll never surprise a good one.

postpone if you can. we were going to go to London for christmas, but when I was looking for SYD-LHR there wasn't much avaliable and there was a hefty premium on what was avalible so it made the trip unviable.
alternativley try someone other then flight centre.

How about trying Travel Cafe? I used Travel Cafe when I went to Michigan in June and I got excellent discounts (saved between $1000-$2000 on the total airfares). Then go back to Flight Center as they say they "will bet any airfare offer" etc. Travel Cafe is based in Hastings, but also has an office in Rotorua and Napier
