Here's a brainstormer:
For those who have read "The Cather in the Rye"...
do you think Holden should be sent to an institution to get help
*or*
should he be aloud to get help on his own?

Well, from what I remember of the book, he needed help but I don't think that means he needed to be committed. I read the book in high school though so my memory of it is pretty vague.

No, let him suffer. Phony bastard
I had a question:
What is the deal with the scene whenhe wakes up to see his teacher watching over him, carressing his head?
Seriously, did anybody else think the teacher might have been sexually harassing him?

It's my favorite book! A real work of brilliance.

In that scene Us330, his teacher is a pervert and trying to do inapropriate things.

Holden doesn't need help. He is a bright articulate young boy and while his view of the world is a bit cynical, its derived from experience and intelligence, not anger and confusion.

its called Catcher in the Rye.

My school banned this book...No really, actually the year that this book was read for English class, since all teachers have a different list of books they use in class, I wound up reading something different. Been meaning to read this book though fo the last 8 years or so. One of these days.

Holden is not really stupid. He is just very confused. He should see a psychiatrist(spelling) because he can be pretty bright sometimes, even though he has been kicked out of four schools. He has also taken his brothers death pretty hard.

A little zoloft will solve all of Holden's problems.
