So the Manchu Wok Chinese restaurant in my town has a Now Hiring sign. I don't actually want to work there, but lets say I apply, and they don't hire me, can I say that I wasn't hired because I'm white? Now I realize that there may be better candidates, but my resume is pretty good, I've had lots of work experience in many different areas and what not. Anyway, is this a feasible idea, or just a waste of my time and money, because I see it happen all the time, but the other way around, where whites don't hire people of different ethnic backgrounds.

It doesn't take a Chinese person to cook Chinese food... so you would have no case.

You also signify you're a Canadian... we don't do the whole "sue for whatever you can" practice like our American counterparts...  Wink

There's a Chinese takeaway in the Mall of America. Most of their employees are Hispanic and black.

Did you get this idea from watching "Seinfeld"?

The relevant episode is called "The Pilot". Elaine applied for a job that she didn't actually want in an attempt to prove they discriminated against small breasted women.

Elaine: "You know what? That's discriminatory. That is unfair. Why should these women have all the advantages? It's not enough they get all the attention from men, they have to get all the waitress jobs, too?"

Most Texans (and I assume most Americans) have a real love-hate relationship with lawsuits. Anytime they hear about a lawsuit in the news they usually complain about it and bring up the supposed need for anti-consumer tort reform. But, if anything even remotely unpleasant ever happens to them or anybody they know they nearly always recommend a lawsuit. How screwed up is that?

What an idiot. Do you have anything better to do with your day? You would have to prove that they discriminated against you and I seriously doubt that would be possible unless they actually said it to your face and you had a third party who was there to hear it said as well.

Qualifications to cook crappy Chinese food? I think you just need to be breathing. A good resume for a fast food joint...now that's just funny.

Do remember that the big boobied girls were all daughters of the owner.

Oh it's crap Chinese food alright, I'd just advise you to stay away from it, either eating or working there.

The latter.

If you don't want to work there, you can't apply in the hope that you'll be rejected so that you can sue them for discrimination.

If you're really out for some money, may I suggest applying for a job in the hope that you will be HIRED.

But that would be the right thing to do. That would involve work. The premise of this thread is easy money, I'm not too sure he's willing to do that.

We're just as money crazed as the next Western country, only difference is that it's hard to sue people here, not that it's easy in the States, just that it's quite the challenge here. Anyways, the whole premise of this thread is pathetic.

Reminds me of the Attorney who purchased property damage insurance for his expensive cigars. After admittedly smoking them, he filed a claim for loss due to fire.

He won the case because the policy's definition of "Destruction by fire" was vague.

Shortly after the ruling, he was arrested for "Arson".

Dude....PLEASE! Don't waste our time and money.

I know, but since that kind of attitude is so present in the US (Canada as well, as Neil says), I mentioned it anyway as a general comment. Should have specified, but whatever.

Oh it's here. It's all greed. This Bowflex guy is clearly just looking for some easy coin. But it would cost him way more in lawyers fees than he'd ever get.

There's nothing more to it than looking to get something from nothing. It's sad, there's no work ethic here. He states that he's worked at McDonald's and done landscaping, those are fine jobs, you work and you earn your money, I respect that. All this idea exhibits is pure laziness and greed.

I guess you could say that...and did.

Or, we could say that it reminded us of a story about the attorney who...

And there's more!

The subject attorney attempted to jump bail in a stolen 1966 Biscayne by strapping a JATO booster to the roof. After the booster was ignited, the Biscayne went airborne for about 3 miles at 300mph, passed his intended exit ramp and impacted the side of a mountain!

A Mariposa County Sheriff saw the burning wreckage and thought it was an illegal campfire until finding a steering wheel with fingernails embedded into it. After further investigation, the Sheriff determined that it was a case of illegal dumping instead. Mariposa still has a warrant out for the attorney's arrest.

You can find all the facts about it on the internet so it's gotta be true!  sarcastic
