I like the ivy-covered building and the railroad tracks/ties. The baskets (2nd from last) are good too.

Both of the mill (or whatever the building is in photos 1 and 6) photos seem grainy for some reason. I don't know if it's my 'puter, or if it's a shrunken image, or something else.  scratchchin

I do some photog, but no artsy stuff. All motorsports pictures.

1 and 6 are the same, oops.. But I left it in the developer too long, so it diddnt come out the best. Also, it is on a different paper. All of these were hand processed. So may not be the best :P

I preferred these two, but the basket photo isn't too bad either.

I really like numbers 1,4,8, and 10; nice work on the composition there. You might want to post these on FredMiranda.com to get some feedback from the pros and experienced hobbyists living on those boards. I'm not saying that there aren't any of those on A.net, I just think you might get more focused feedback on a site that's purpose-built for photography.

And JeffM's a mod there, so you'll feel right at home.  Wink

I like:

But the rest are either over exposed, zany, pointless, aren't easy enough to understand the subject, or as an obvious example: the last one with the car, totally soulless.

To me black and white needs to tell a story someone can CARE about. I can care about a picture of a single piece of fruit in B&W if it's DONE RIGHT. I can care about a basket of fruit..if it's DONE RIGHT. But a bunch of baskets with the shop window, the horrid reflections in the window eww yuck.

Even though the crop marks suck on the picture of the man, I want to know more about him because of the picture. I want to understand whats going on with him. I almost want to reach out and help him even though he might be totally ok with taking care of himself.

OK, here ya go....

#1 The Rock Mill could use some capital improvements.

#2 needs either weed-killer or fertilizer, depending on if you want to photograph it again in the future.

#3 DEFINITELY needs the weed-killer mentioned in #2.

#4 Mama's gonna be pissed tomorrow morning when she tries to make pancakes.

#5 Will be closed soon if it's not already because of the WalMart being built nearby.

#6 WTF, see #1.

#7 is an environmental hazard waiting to happen and needs to be remediated immediately

#8 was purchased at the WalMart that put #5 out of business

#9 Spray painting "stop bush" will not keep that bush to the left from taking over that building, see #3

#10 Too bad defacing public property is not a Captial offense

#11 I know that guy, did you get a signed release before you photographed him?

#12 If you look closely enough you can see the cigarette butt that the guy photographed in #11 threw in the basket farthest to the left

#13 '98 Chevy Lumina, subject of numerous recalls.

Signed,
An Aspie (but I have a job)

That all I can see in them, I have no eye for art whatsoever so take what I say about them with a grain of salt. I'm the kind of person that looks at an inkblot and sees the chemical components of the ink, not the shape that the inkblot might look like.

I'm sure your work is very artistic and gives an nice "ahhhhh" to those with an artistic eye. But if you posted a blow-up drawing of almost anything mechanical or an electrical schematic, I'd probably see what you were trying to mean.

No offense intended at all.

Oops, looking back over the pics for artistic value again, it appears I missed one. The kids being herded down the sidewalk obviously are victims of a traumatic experience. I'll save the anti-gunners the time and go ahead and admit they are probably fleeing their daycare after it was invaded by an armed stuffed animal.

That said, being an Aspie doesn't automatically rob you of an artistic eye. For example, I submitted this piece to a photo contest today:

Would have been cool if you could have kept the color of the I-pod the same.

In my defense, this is (obviously) a composite of four different shots. Each was shot in a different lighting situation, and there's nothing I can really do about that.

OTOH, if I had a studio... scratchchin

Clone the Ipod across the seasons like everyother marketing type does. Maybe illegal for your competition, but at least it would look right.
