So some judge gives a sex offender the choice- a jail cell or exile to Canada.

WTF......Keep your trash at home, we don't want him

Reading the article it sounds like he was living in Canada with his wife and family and working here in the states. It seems you already had the trash and did not know it.

3 years probation for sexual abuse  redflag  as a teacher no less. Apparently he did live in Canada, should be interesting what the Canadian government does, send him to Australia, isn't that were the commonwealth shipped the prisoners off to a few hundred years ago?

No, that's wrong. Read it again.

A U.S. citizen who taught at the elite Buffalo Seminary girls' school, he has a Canadian wife and family.

and;

I don't see how a judge sitting in a criminal court in the U.S. can lawfully banish a citizen as a condition of sentencing

Luv2fly and Ted, apologise to WrenchBender.  Wink

The guy got done for touching up a girl in NY state but got shoved up to Canada so he could be with his family.

You can't get exiled in your own country. Think about it.

I am not saying he is not American, though in reading the article and having the ability to understand it, it sounds like he was living with his wife and family in Canada and working here in the states. Now do you understand or should I type slower.

Just from browsing the newspaper today, it appears as if this isn't sitting well with the Canadian government. Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day has asked for a report on the case from U.S. officials. Should be interesting to see where this goes.

Wasn't that a skit from the Paul Hogan show from years ago, where Hoags was shown putting zinc oxide on his face in preparation of his "banishment"...

But I would have to agree, there is something really wrong here..
