Where there is almost NOTHING on during commercials but political ads! I cannot stand 5 ads at one time, most of them negative as all hell, with nothing to say on the issues, and, really, nothing to say positive about the candidate it's purporting to convince you to support.

It's the most mind-numbing two-weeks of TV of any year.

Oh, I thought this was going to be about the start of Christmas music on all the radio stations and ads for Christmas sales, as it is that time of year for those mentioned. Every year, I'm sick of Christmas music by the time Thanksgiving rolls around.

Two weeks?! You guys have it easy. Political ads started here a couple of months ago, for the elections in November 2007. I'm already getting sick of it...

I recall we already had a thread complaining about that last month. Big grin

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

I've gotten about 3 dead-trees' worth of shit from Ned Lamont's campaign... I'm going to collect it all and dump it on the steps of his campaign office.

One really bad ad is appearing on our television in Arizona for Rick Renzi seat. The Democrat challenger is running neck and neck with the Republican incumbent. Renzi ad announces that since she is a member of the ACLU, she is automatically supports the man-boy love society, and other trash. The ad is nothing more than name calling hopefully it will backfire.

I have a confession to make: I enjoy political ads!!! This time of the year is the best for those political junkies like me who truly like a good campaign. In fact, negative ads are my favorites.

It's showtime baby!  mischievous

Do you mean to imply that there are positive ads?

Every night when I get home, my answering machine has at least two recorded messages from candidates or special interest groups. PITA!

My Postal Carrier says she hates election time and that it's worse than Christmas.

On Thanksgiving one radio station plays Arlo Guthries "Alice's Restaurant". One of my "cult" favorites. I also enjoy hearing Cheech and Chong's bit about "Santa Claus with the fuzzy Jaws" getting shot at by rednecks.
" Recession, depression...it's all the same thing".

Political ads are simply a microchosm of politics itself.....bash the other guy/party to no end, yet offer no positive solutions.

You're in non-av, what's could possibly be more negative than that? If political ads get you down then what the hell are you people doing in here?

In any case, most elections have at least one longshot guy somewhere along the way who doesn't do much attacking (or at least not on the air). Maybe you should go vote  checkmark  for that guy? If everybody just took that attitude...

...Diebold would have to spend an extra five minutes fixing the results.

I think they are fun to watch. You get to see grown Men/Women act like 5 year olds.

" Judy Barr Topinka supports murdering children, giving to the wealthy, dropping nuclear weapons on Iraq and ius a prostitute, while Rod Blagojevich has just walked on water, bought everyone a new Pontiac G6, supports bonus checks to the middle class for "Taking it in stride" and wishes to abolish taxes. "Hi I'm Rod Blagojevich my oppenent wants you to think I am a bad person.... but all I can say is...Look at these kitties if you don't support me you support murdering kittens. And I approved this message"
(A little exaggerated but nonetheless pretty close)

Ah, US election campaign adverts. The usual crap as always. Attack campaigns, scare tactics, etc. I'm always very puzzled about why US politicians would go to such lengths. I mean, I have only seen such things in US TV, never on Costa Rican or German national television.  Confused

I'm Richie and I approve this message.  Wink
