Lekker Mango Jo'Burg A.net Braai In March/April?

Hi All!

I've posted this in NonAv a while back, but it quickly went under, mostly because it's not really NonAv.

Would any A.netters from Southern Africa like to meet in the Highveld in March or April next year? Has there ever been an A.net Braai? Or, even better, seeing how Mango flight sell for 250 SAR right now, how about we all book ourselves on a round trip DUR or CPT flight together?

Or we could go check out the SPs at Rand?

Anybody interested?

I just thought we could also fly down to Joburg and then to Bloemfontein on Mango, and then catch the last remaining DC9-10 of 1time back up from Bloem to Joburg. How about that?

A A-net Braai?? Dit sal baie lekker wees! Certainly the Rand Airport Museum will be paid a visit by me the next time I'm in SA, not sure I'll make it in April or March

I never thought I'd see the word lekker on an a.net thread!

If we can organise an a.net braai with boerewors (of course) for sometime during the next World Cup, I'd be there with some tongues in one hand, and a bottle of Castle in the other.

Oh yes Big grin I can hardly wait

I will catch on in Bloem, as I live here  Wink However, just remember that Mango will start services between BFN-DUR and BFN-CPT. SA Express and 1T will still be the only carriers on the JNB-BFN route, unless another carrier has plans to join them.

And while you are here we can educate you about proper beer!

The meet sounds like a good idea, count me in! I wonder if the owners of Hi Flyerz would allow us to braai on their deck in front of the 742 cockpit, while watching arrivals on 03R and listening to approach control!

I'd be game to fly down for a good Braai. One of our SA users who is currently serving a 2 year ban also expresses his interest.

Well, this sounds great! Maybe we should talk about specific dates to check if there are cheap flights in and out. I believe if we do this a couple of months in advance there should be plenty of cheap seats around, but then we don't want to wait too long so that it gets colder, so here's my suggestion, how about the weekend of March 2 to 4? Would this be an option for you all, or is this too far into the future? I mean, from a South African A.netter's perspective this might be far in the future, but people who want to fly in need a couple of months to arrange days off / flights.

So what's your opinion about this weekend?

I checked Mango's website www.flymango.com and for Saturday there are flights to Durban for 219SAR (hey that's almost nothing!), we could fly down with the first plane at 705, then fly back up at 1430 for the same rate, and we'd be back in the Highveld at 1545 just in time to braai the Boerewors...

How about this? Anybody interested? This would be the perfect chance for a first contact with this new airline at a ridiculously cheap price!

Considering that his first suggestion (in reply 1) was Bloemfontein, I think we are going up in the world!

Hehe I know... I went there for a weekend in September and yes there are nicer places in South Africa, but then I drove up the coast to a place named Ballito and I kind of liked it there, waves are high but the beach is nice.

Well anyway, about the Mango flights, this is not about going to Durban (we'd only stay for an hour anyway), this is about going anywhere and coming back on the next plane, this is just to fly Mango at a cheap price with a bunch of A.netters.

Oh well... We could of course skip the flights and go right to the braai / spotting part!

Any chance a February date could be considered? I'll be back from Feb 15th to 27th for a Chinese New Year break and would definitely like to join something in JHB area ...

Sure, still flexible. How about the Feb 24-25 weekend? Can't make it any earlier, I'm flying in from Frankfurt the weekend before that.

I'd be back for that weekend -- not sure how much time I'd be able to spare, since I'm heading home to visit my family, and it's only a short trip -- but I'd definitely join for the braai and boerewors.

Talking about "good boerewors" -- we used to get our 'wors from Primrose Butchery way back when -- anyone know if the butchery is still going, and if their 'wors is still as good as it used to be?
