I have the Fusion, and it's actually a significant improvement over the Mach3 in my own opinion. It's actually a five blade razor with a 6th blade used for more precise touch ups. I'd say it is marginally better for irritation, but is a lot better for shaving close to the skin.

Hitchhiker: You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs?
Ted: Yeah, sure, 8-Minute Abs. Yeah, the excercise video.
Hitchhiker: Yeah, this is going to blow that right out of the water. Listen to this: 7... Minute... Abs.
Ted: Right. Yes. OK, all right. I see where you're going.
Hitchhiker: Think about it. You walk into a video store, you see 8-Minute Abs sittin' there, there's 7-Minute Abs right beside it. Which one are you gonna pick, man?
Ted: I would go for the 7.
Hitchhiker: Bingo, man, bingo. 7-Minute Abs. And we guarantee just as good a workout as the 8-minute folk.
Ted: You guarantee it? That's - how do you do that?
Hitchhiker: If you're not happy with the first 7 minutes, we're gonna send you the extra minute free. You see? That's it. That's our motto. That's where we're comin' from. That's from "A" to "B".
Ted: That's right. That's - that's good. That's good. Unless, of course, somebody comes up with 6-Minute Abs. Then you're in trouble, huh?
[Hitchhiker convulses]
Hitchhiker: No! No, no, not 6! I said 7. Nobody's comin' up with 6. Who works out in 6 minutes? You won't even get your heart goin, not even a mouse on a wheel.
Ted: That - good point.
Hitchhiker: 7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 doors. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.

These companies need to stop beating around the bush and release the razor they are building up to...the 14 titanium bladed mega-uber-super razor guaranteed to cut facial hair a hundred times better than anything else on the market.

So why is it that a good barber with a sharp straight edge razor can give a better shave than a sextuple bladed model from Gillette or Schick????

I agree, its beginning to go beyond the ridiculous to the bizarre, but lets be honest here, if it didn't sell, they wouldn't build it. So its says a heck of a lot more for our (the consumer's) gullibility than it does for the marketeer's lack of insight.

This might be so, but I'm not going to a barber 4 timesa week for a shave...

There's a limit to how many times you can cut the same hair. If the first blade misses it, then they should fix whatever is wrong is the first blade, instead of making you buy 5 more.

I made the switch to a four bladed razor several months back. I use the Schick Quattro.
As for a six bladed razor, that's a bit much.

At The Art of Shaving locations that have barber spas in them use Mach 3 and Fusion razors for their shaves. The retail side sales fancy razors that use the Mach 3 and Fusion blades. Let's just say you could probably buy a case of blades for the price of one of these razors.

That would be cool. It will may happen if some laid off jet engine designers get a job at Gilette.

His one blade can do the job of six. I like the hot shaving cream too.
I used to have a single bladed model, now I have a Schick Quatro. Either way may face looks the same.
How did people ever live without all the blades?
You know something is wrong when the grocery store keeps the blades in a locked cabinet so people don't steel them. Razor blades are one of the most expensive things at the grocery store. They cost more than good steak, many wines, and cases of beer.

I was at Target the other day and one of the things on my list were replacement blades for my Quattro. I grab a pack and start up towards the register when I see a Quattro gift pack that was around the same price as the four pack of blades. So for a few cents more, I got another razor (with two catridges), a four pack of blades, and a travel case.
Honestly, the blades is where they get you. With my old Mach 3, I would actually go buy one of the big packs of cartridges @ Sams Club and it was still a lot cheaper than buying a four pack every few months at the grocery store.
I'll say one thing, if you're used to a three or four bladed razor and then have to use a cheapie disposable one, you can tell the difference. I took one out to Vegas back in March and I cut myself so many times with that damn disposable razor that I cussed myself for packing it instead of my Mach 3.

As someone with a thick beard who will often go several days without shaving if I can get away with it, I really appreciate as much comfort as I can get. Still, I haven't found that anything works better than a Mach 3. I haven't used the Fusion, though I find the touch up blade interesting as I usually have sideburns (I currently have my winter beard).

Mach 3 Power. I also go several days without shaving and have tough beard. I used the regular Mach 3 for a long time, but got curious about the Power version.
It actually makes it easier to shave because the vibrations make the blades pull less on the hair, which means less irritation. And you get done faster, too.
I also use it in combination with Gillette Mach 3 Tough Beard Gel . . . great combo.
Cheers
