Wow. All I can say is, I'd welcome the Ol' Ball Coach to Coral Gables. Would be great to have him, once LLLLLLarry Coker is fired after BC destroys us on Thursday.
Awesome pickup if it happens.

I think the Rutgers coach is a possibility. Wisconsin's coach has a good thing going and it is only his first season. Spurrier needs another year or so to get his recruits filling the roles at USC so he'll stay where he is for now.
Miami is a complete wreck right now and I doubt The Evil Genius would want to deal with more rebuilding like he has had these last two years in Columbia.
As for Coker, good riddance to bad rubbish. I hope you enjoy your golden years at Del Boca Vista (Phase 2.)

...And Butch Davis wasn't ever going to leave Miami too....however the day after saying that, he took the Cleveland Browns job. It's kind of hard to declare yourself for a candidate for a job that isn't officially open yet.
However, it will be open after the BC game Friday. We'll see what Steve has to say then.

Steve will be at Miami...mark my word. I don't see Schiano making the move south.

I'd rather not. I'm happy with Steve coaching my Gamecocks, thanks. Beyond what he's said (which counts for a good bit, Spurrier has always been a man of his word), I can't see why in the heck Spurrier would ditch SEC ball for the ACC - a definite step down.
Here's an interview with The State newspaper further debunking the rumor.
“I’ve got no interest in any other job except the one I’ve got,” Spurrier said.
“I have not expressed any interest. They have not expressed any interest in me. Somebody just started a rumor about it, OK?” Spurrier said. “I’m here coaching South Carolina, trying to beat Clemson this week. And my goal is to be here for the next five, seven, eight years (or) whatever. And our goal is to win the SEC here.”
Told by an ESPN reporter that he was Miami’s top choice, Spurrier said: “Who at Miami — the president, the AD or some guy sleeping under the bridge down there?”
Spurrier took about 10 Miami-related questions during the 20-minute teleconference. While saying it was “flattering” to be linked to “one of the top football programs in the last 25 years,” Spurrier reiterated that he intends to remain in Columbia.
“I’m not leaving unless I get run off,” he said.

Ah, what the Hell is one more Damn Yankee moving South? We're full of them already so one more won't hurt. Despite the issues with Miami as it is right now I think Schiano could do a better job "chopping wood" with Floridian recruits versus the kids you have to beg to come to Rutgers in sunny New Jersey.

Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades and nuclear weapons.
That being said, USC played awesome and deserved to win that game. While I'd love to believe that my Gators should be playing for the national championship, the facts remain, we're not the second best team in the nation and anyone who says so hasn't watched much of our season.
Coach M has done a great job bringing us back to where we can even have these sorts of discussions but this just isn't our year. Truth be told either Michigan or OU would have spanked us hard. With a little bit of luck we'll beat FSU and Arkansas and play in a BCS bowl. Go Gators.
Spurrier is a great coach and I hope he can rebuild the SC program.

.....that said, U of M's football program is a disaster right now. I'm not so sure that Spurrier would want any part of it. He's got no need to go there.....he's made his mark at Florida, and he's currently working on his reclamation project at USC (though I doubt he'll reach his goal of winning the SEC there).

Spurrier will be a little fish in a big pond if he goes to Miami. No one cares about college football in Miami and their facilities are horrible (i.e. the Orange Bowl). But, knowing him he doesn't want to retire a loser, and his best chance to avoid that is to be in Miami. I'm a Spurrier fan, but I like him less and less, esp. being asssociated in any way with the Canes. Maybe he'll take over for Bobby in a few years, sellout...

I think the Gator faithful are just a little worried about Spurrier taking over at the U.
Contrary to popular belief, the problem isn't talent, its coaching.
Spurrier+Miami= return to glory.
Well, for the next few years it certainly will not be.
The second he puts a national championship under his belt he will be reveered as a god down there. Up until then, he will just be an ex-gator sell out piece of shiot.

Actually, between Schiano at Rutgers and Wannstedt at Pitt, the Big East has Florida very well staked out. Other than Florida or Florida State, no one in Florida has a huge following. A good reputation goes a long way to getting recruits down there. The Big East is every bit as good as the SEC, ACC, Big Ten or Pac-10!
Personally, I think the Hurricanes should suspend football for a while. The program's an absolute joke. I've hated Miami for as long as I can remember. as have most fans in the East. Where do those kids get off jumping on the logo in someone ELSE's stadium?!? Do the coaches teach these kids nothing?!?! Why should they suspend football? Outside of a half-competent head coach, the program is still alright.
Why do you hate Miami??? Is it the 5 MNCs in the past 23 years? I assume you are a Pitt fan....was it the beatings the 'Canes dealt to the Panthers over the years?
Or is it the countless draft picks Miami has churned out? From Playmaker Irvin to Clinton Portis to Frank Gore....nobody can argue Miami doesn't put out quality players.
Now....onto your "Jumping on the logo in someone else's stadium...its not just Miami....although you might like to think that. Look at MSU planting the flag in the midfield logo of ND....or maybe the numerous other teams who jump on midfield logos.
If you want to disband Miami's team for that reason...then please, disband the countless other teams who do the same thing.

Actually, I'm a WVU fan. The flag-planting is a tradition for those schools. As good as the 'Canes have been over the last 25 years, they need a good lesson about class--AFAIK they have none! I respect your opinion, but please, the University of Miami needs to wake up and clean out these thugs--it's ruining whatever reputation Miami has as a university. Talk to me later when you produce Rhodes scholars.

Actually, the University of Miami has had 4 Rhodes scholars, the last of which was in 2005.
However, last time I checked, Rhodes scholars had nothing to do with college football.
What class does WVU have that Miami doesn't??? I don't understand that one. Miami's "Thug U" moniker was something of the 90s and 80s, and with the exception of the FIU brawl, has been shed for the most part.
Now...shouldn't you be burning couches with the rest of the WVU faithful???
Get back to me when WVU wins a MNC or a meaningful game.

Who's that convicted felon you have as a linebacker. The one who Florida quit recruiting after he had another felony arrest while on his visit to Gainesville? Thug U. is alive and well.

One more thing. When one of Pitt's players "flipped the bird" at USF two weeks ago, he was canned for the rest of the season. Why does UM suspend people for one game for kicking and stomping, while the rest of college football routinely suspends indefinitely and/or kicks players off the squad who do that crap?!? 'Nuff said. Miami graduated 79% of its student athletes in the 90s and 2000s
WVU graduated 70% in the same time period.
The graduation rate for WVU in that period for all students was 55%
The graduation rate for Miami in the same period for all students was 71%
Thanks again for proving you know nothing.

If you watched the tape of the fight, It is clear FIU instigated the entire thing. However Miami was crucified by the media, however nary a mention of FIU.
I don't speak for the administration, however I would have had harsher punishments for the players in question, especially seeing how meaningless the season has become.

Thanks. Sorry about that. Most of my dislike for Miami comes from the '80s and '90s "Thug U." days. I remember when Jimmy Johnson and his boys showed up for a pre-game meal before the 1986 Fiesta Bowl wearing combat fatigues and refusing to shake any of Penn State's players' hands. Why can't Miami try to be a class program like everybody else? Why do they feel they have to be the Oakland Raiders of college football. Schnellenberger didn't act that way!
