****UNABASHED SELF GLOSS THREAD****
I'm gonna keep this short - but none of y'all would guess where I am sitting at the moment!
....I'm sitting.... in the computer room.... of my house... at Fort Campbell... in the United States!
Remember a few months ago I was looking forward to my Mid-Tour Leave, for which I was going to meet up with my wife in Germany? And how it got canceled? Well, about a month ago, my unit announced they were going to send three people home for Thanksgiving, and everyone voted who they thought deserved to go.
I kept all of this on the down-low because I didn't think I had a snowball's chance in hell of getting it... and I didn't want to get my hopes up. BUT I DID GET IT! I told a very select few about the news, not even my wife. She had no idea I was on my way home.
And after a Ch-47 trip to Kuwait City - a C-17 trip to Germany - a aircraft mechanical delay in Germany - a Global Airways flight to ATL - a missed connection flight to Nashville - me telling Delta to screw off, I was not waiting 12hrs for the next flight - renting a car - driving to Fort Campbell...
I pulled up in my drive way, knocked on my front door, and my wife opened the door. God, what a sight for sore eyes. I think her heart stopped for a second.
Anyway, I've just spent the past 8 hrs in bed. ...and in the shower. ...and in the living room. ...and in the kitchen. ...and... oh you get the picture!!!
