Gas went up 10 cents seemingly overnight here. Now it's at $2.09 per gallon.

This is not uncommon. Here where I live in Northern New Jersey, prices have also gone up about $.10-12 a gallon in the last month or so. This is probably due to the need to shift more porduction to fuel oil for heating purposes, reducing the production of gasoline and hense supplies, along with the fluctations in the price of crude oil.

We should start playing by their rules and form a union called Food Producing and Exporting Countries(FPEC). Lets cut our production of things they buy and see what happens.

does anybody oversee OPEC?? It seems just when gas prices get "reasonable" all of the sudden it's time to cut 1 million barrels a day. It seems like alot of BS to me!!

Yeah, I've noticed that too. 2 Days ago it was 2.09 and today it is now 2.30. I really dont understand gas price regulation. Seems like I'm going to have to start saving funds again. At least I'm not driving my dang Jeep daily now.

Same here in the metro DC area. Not surprising.

Which is one of the dumbest quotes of all time, right after "If you walk off a cliff, you will fall."

Hence the higher prices...

Quoting Nkops (Reply 6):

No. That is why it is called a Cartel.

And no, GW Bush does not call the shots.  Yeah sure

I hope most of you stop complaining when you find out it is $4.60 a gallon here in western Alaska. That price is locked in until we get another shipment of fuel in May. Nothing like dropping $100 to fill up the Silverado

It's not "B.S." to the filthy-rich oil barons of OPEC. They've got us literally "over a barrel". If they can get prices up by cutting production, they'll do it; wouldn't you if you were in their place? The ONLY way we can combat their crap is to fully exploit our own oil reserves, something we've not been doing and accelerate development of alternative fuels, something we've not been doing in earnest. Neither approach seems to be in the best interests of our domestic oil producers or of the politicians in their back pockets.  Sad

I hear ya. That's like saying snow is white before the huskies get to it.

We all saw that coming 2 miles away. It's a good thing I gassed up the day before the elections!

Dude, didn't you get the memo? Everything bad that happens here is his fault.

I forced my parents to book plane tickets for our trip to Ohio the Sunday before the election. The fare was $250 for GSO-CVG-GSO and I kept on stating "It's only going to go up after Tuesday," in both sarcasm and seriousness. I haven't looked recently though the fare did hold steady a few days after the election.

That's what I filled up at last weekend. Although I know a lot of gas stations in my area raise the prices at night.
