CITY leaders in Arizona have apologised after a cable TV programme showed a white police officer telling two black men that they could avoid a litter ticket by rapping.
=======
According to News 2 Houston, the two men volunteered to the Sgt (off camera) they are rappers. So racist cop? Or Some a little too quick to scream (or rap) racism? (Publicity pimps Sharpton and Jackson are still in NY) Or The Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's creative headline grabbing antics at work again?
What gives? What do our LEO a.netters out west say?

It depends if that's all there was to it. If two white people got out of a ticket by saying they were singers and blaring out a song, would that be racist? Was the city apologising for racism or for not enforcing the law?
The Scotsman International seems to have provided quite few dodgy "stories" recently. It's been a few years since I read the local version but I'm sure it was a lot better than that.

The media - dodgy stories - NO!!!? Maybe some can look other news stories up using the Google or the internets; I gotta run to work. We'll see if this issue gets more media oxygen this week seeing seeing the NYPD issue is "buried"
But in this instance no one got tasered, shot or beaten, so it may not get too much media oxygen...

it's gotten to the point where you're a racist just by being white, a sexual predator and child molester just by being male, and intollerant of other religions just by being Christian.
It's gotten to the point where life's almost gotten impossible for a white male Christian... Bring on the reeducation camps, Chinese or North Korean style, and get rid of whitey...
I fear to see that scenario in my lifetime.
I know what you mean but The Scotsman newspaper is, or at least used to be, a serious publication - a shade left of centre but not the kind to sensationalise. Perhaps the International section is run separately. The recent links I've seen seem to be a collection of things overheard in the pub.
Quoting Captaink (Reply 3): After crying wolf so many times, if and when a true racism problem arises...
True. If the policemen had made them rap because of the colour of their skin, that would be a different matter but that's not what the story says happened.

As long as the officer didn't assume that they were rappers because they were black then I don't really see it as a problem. A stupid move on the police officer's part, because he's not there to enforce the law unless of course he can get some entertainment out of it, however, I don't think this was done maliciously.

Quoting Captaink (Reply 3): After crying wolf so many times, if and when a true racism problem arises, it will surely be ignored. I think people are taking this way to far now.
Remember what I said about the often over-used Race Card . . . when all else fails - holler Race!!! The media will grab it and run with it.
Stupid cop?
Racist? Don't know - don't know him - don't know the whole story - don't give a shit about the whole story.
Reckon if a cop pulls over my kin-folk in 'Bama and tells 'em, "y'all can get outta this here ticket ifn you sang a kuntry music hit fer me" is racist?
Wonder if Poverati was ever asked to perform a quickie from McBeth . . . is that racist?

Must have been a slow news day. Also, must not be too much for the black community leaders in Arizona to get upset over if this little blunder on the cop's part caused "outrage".
