So the genius decides to ride around on top of a golf cart, and yep, you guessed it, takes a header and breaks his wrist.

So much for the NBA having its players own the monopoly on stupidity.

Here's a NASCAR.com link.

http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/head...p/12/10/jjohnson.injury/index.html

The news I saw didn't say anything about him being on TOP of the cart. Interesting, Johnson doesn't say he was ON TOP of the golf cart either.

From the source cited: "I was in a golf cart and the driver took a sharp turn," Johnson said in a statement. "I wasn't holding on tight enough, landed awkwardly on the ground and heard a little pop. It was a fluke deal, but fortunately we're in the offseason and I don't plan to miss any additional time."

Guess this doesn't quite fit any longer does it. . . .

JJ has actually run the Rolex 24 at Daytona twice, and was planning to do that and some other sports car races this year.

Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart are scheduled to run it this year as well, and Casey Mears is one of the defending champions (along with the IRL's Scott Dixon and Dan Wheldon)

(BTW - Is anyone else having racing withdrawal?  scratchchin  )

JJ's team said he was "horsing around" on the cart, and while I haven't the faintest idea why he'd be on top of the cart, the admission from his own team speaks volumes.

Btw, did NASCAR inspect the cart? I'm sure Chad Knaus did something illegal under the hood.....or on the battery.....or on the Par-Saver GPS... wink

Took out the sway bar. The driver lost the back end and Johnson went down.

Although I'd definitely hit that, I miss my favorite driver of all time:

Well, at least he waited until the end of the season to do it. That said, he still won't be able to run the ROC.

I hear that. He & Scott Sharp are my two favorite IRL drivers. Too bad Buddy hasn't been picked up by another (good) team. He ran well in his one or two races for Panther a couple years ago.

I lean toward Jeff Gordon and Denny Hamlin, but as long as somebody not driving for Jack Roush wins (especially that turd Kenseth) I can celebrate!

I really wish someone would give some younger American guys a shot in CCWS or IRL: Alex Barron, Memo Gidley, Ryan Hunter-Reay, etc

With the "foreign invasion" next yr, I'll have to pipe in the NASCAR threads... JPM still needs a nickname. "Fireball" comes to mind...

the hometown is comin' for RedBull as well, GO AJ!

JJ can tumble off a cart - it's the off season, no big deal. Today's paper suggested alcohol might have been involved. Gee, ya think. It was a charity golf tournement, ther's always alcohol involved.

My old driver - Ricky Rudd is semi-retired. I think I'm going with Denny Hamlin from now on..... he's a local boy.
