Why do you want to know?

Seriously, revisionist history always comes up with ideas like this. The body of evidence suggests that he was largely asexual. With such a low sex drive (apparently) it doesn't make much difference.

The definitive publication on World War 2 and Hitler, despite some minor flaws and corrections, remains the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William L Shirer. He was an award winning correspondent who didnt make stuff up over a typewriter in a research library...he lived it.

He goes into great detail about Hitler's Vienna-era obssession with his FEMALE cousin....an obssession that almost led him to commit suicide (can you imagine what if, huh?)

I've heard every story in the book, from Hitler being gay to Hitler's penis being bitten off by a goat when he was a young teen as he tried to pee into the goat's mouth. It was quite clear that Eva Braun was a 'showpiece' but for what reason, who knows.

I think we can agree he was a pretty bad dude.

Did you know that his name was Adolf Schicklgruber, but he changed it because he wasn't taken seriously. I heard that somewhere... That guy was pretty screwed up. I toured the concentration camp in Dachau and that was really really depressing...

A more interesting question is, "Was Hitler Jewis?" Apparently so, at least on one side of the family. It only counts if it's your mother's side in Judaism, which it was in Hitler's case if I'm right? Anyone know any more?

We are not suggesting that the holocost was because Hitler felt he was in competition for his mothers effections, with his father???

Man, Freud was discredited years ago.

I do know that Hitler was afraid of heights, which makes you wonder what Mosullini(spl) what thinking when the built the eagles nest as a gift to Hitler.

He was also claustraphobic. Which is why the elevator to the eagles nest is mirrored, To make it look bigger. It also must have those last days in the bunker even more dicy for those that where with him.

Also he had a lifelong problem with gas. He kept breaking wind wherever he went. That also must have made the last days living in the bunker a living hell for those who where with them....Can you imagine the smell.

a·sex·u·al (-sksh-l)
adj.
1.Having no evident sex or sex organs; sexless.
2.Relating to, produced by, or involving reproduction that occurs without the union of male and female gametes, as in binary fission or budding.
3.Lacking interest in or desire for sex.

YKA, you are referring to a hemaphrodite I believe.

Banco was clearly intending the third definition as it applied to Hitler....

Folks,

Hitler seemed gay, but that was because in the early days of the Nazi Party one of its most prominent members was gay--Ernst Roehm, who headed the SA (Storm Troopers). Indeed, many of Roehm's lieutenants in the SA were either his sexual partners or were also gay.

Roehm's blatant homosexuality was one of the compelling reasons why Hitler ordered the infamous Night of Long Knives (28-30 June 1934) to rid itself of this problem in the Nazi Party. The other reason for the purge was because the regular Wehrmacht thought the SA was a major encroachment on their powers.

How? Fabulous taste in home decor? Crates full of Striesand records at the Berghoff? An affinity for having conversations with spoiled rotten kitty cats?

You nailed history on the dot with the references to Roehm and the purge of the SA. You might bring up Hitler's fascination with muscular blond men as the picture of Aryan superiority. Still, I don't think that makes him 'seem gay;.

I don´t know if Hitler was homosexual. At least he was married, not that this would mean he wasn´t gay...
I´d like to make corrections concerning to other points mentioned above:

Adolf Hitler was NEVER called Schicklgruber; his father Alois was born as a Schicklgruber: Alois was born out of wedlock in 1837, and got the family name of his mother´s husband in 1876, well before Adolf was born in 1889. It is not known who Adolf´s grandfather/Alois´ father was. The suspects are three men:

-a jew named Frankenberger who employed said Grandma Schicklgruber
-two brothers named Johann Georg Hiedler and Johann Nepomuk Huettler

Most historians agree that this Frankenberger was the invention of people who tried to blackmail Hitler because of his alleged jewish background. Today the Hiedler/Huettler brothers are universally assumed to be Hitler´s grandfathers. They were catholic.
On a side note: please bear in mind that judaism is a religion, not a race. Even if Hitler´s gransfather was a jew this wouldn´t make Hitler´s father a "half-jew" ("half a jew"? Which half, then?) and Hitler himself a "quarter-jew". Or have you ever heard of a "half-muslim"???

Oh and another interesting point which might shed some light some of Hitler´s, well, mental defects: his mother was very closely related to his father (first cousins?) - so closely, in fact, the pope had to approve their marriage. If I remember correctly, her maiden name was Hitler, too. This inbreeding was apparently the norm in the Hitler family.

Been there, very true. Did you walk around the Bunkers nearby the hotel on the way up? The hotel used to be owned by the US armed forces as a retreat until about 1997 (I think). The bunkers are really close by there. Its really creepy. Eaglesnest is cool though. YOu don't exactly get that creepy feeling because hitler had only been there a few times (twice I think).

Uh, I don´t really remember that much - I was there like 15 or 20 years ago, I was rather young at the time. The only remnants of Mr. H.´s fabulous taste is the lift - a nightmare in gold - it shaped my lifetime imagination of how a brothel must look like; a cheap one, that is. You´re right, I don´t get that creepy feeling because "he" was there (don´t believe in that stuff too much anyway) - wondering how much of a sicko the guy must have been judging by his taste sends the shudders down my spine  Big grin...

Let's not forget that homosexuals were rounded up and sent to concentration camps, and were considered the lowest form of prisoner, beneath even the Jews in the Nazi scheme of things. Unless this was some twisted form of self-loathing on Hitler's part (and who's to say what motivated his warped mind), I would venture to say gays were simply another form of undesirable entities Hitler wanted purged from the Reich. Other categories: Non-Aryans, Jews, the mentally handicapped, the physically handicapped, the aged and infirmed, poltical opponents etc...These and others didn't fit into Hitler's vision of a perfect society.
