Is it not interesting that the complaining over voting fraud/machine problems in prior major national elections (when Republicans won) was fairly well absent in the wake of the big Democratic victory last month? It's great to know everything worked so well this time!

Corrupt William Jefferson Wins Runoff

Louisiana voters have re-elected U.S. Rep. William Jefferson , this is absolutely shocking!! This corrupt Liberal Congressman is headed back to Washington, despite all the cold cash found in his freezer. ...

Actually, to be fair, they're still contesting election results in some places, including in the State of Florida(to no surprise)

Shouldn't the GOP get the credit for making the election process so much better this time?

Republican fraud

The democrats did not allege any GOP fraud, so my suggestion still stands, the GOP should get great credit for reforming the election system.

Well one FL Congress race is still to close to call. Apparently 13% of the ballots didn't included a vote for a Congress person, compared to the statewide avg of 2%. The difference between the two individuals is less than 500 votes. Anybody want to guess who was the retiring congresswoman?

WellHung,
Thanks for sharing. However, your thesis is flawed. And this is why: The dems based a good part of mid-term talking points on rep. corruption. Yet, dems were just if not worse than the reps.. However, thanks to the lib media a crucial part of the US were not awear of this & how bad the dems were in reality.

To prove my point. 1st thing Pelosi tried to do was appoint John Murtha as House majority leader. Murtha, another corrupt politician involved in the Abstract scandal of the 80's!

Again,
More hypocrisy on the far left!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Murtha

Abscam bribery investigation

Main article: Abscam

Murtha became embroiled in the Abscam investigation, which targeted dozens of congressmen, in 1980. The investigation entailed FBI operatives posing as intermediaries for Saudi nationals hoping to bribe their way through the immigration process into the United States. Murtha met with these operatives and was videotaped, and he was named by the Justice Department as an "unindicted co-conspirator," but he was never indicted or charged. He did testify against Frank Thompson (D-NJ) and John Murphy (D-NY), the two Congressmen mentioned as participants in the deal at the same meeting.

The FBI videotaped Murtha as saying, "I'm not interested...at this point. [If] we do business for a while, maybe I'll be interested, maybe I won't" to $50,000 cash right after Murtha had offered to provide names of businesses and banks in his district where money could be legally invested.[10]

Votes are being recounted in the Florida district that Katherine Harris represented. There are major glitches with that race.
As far as Congressman William Jefferson's re-election, many people are disappointed. The only people to blame are the voters in that district. The next House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is NOT giving back his seat on the Ways & Means committee.
I was hoping Carter would defeat Jefferson but the people of New Orleans want to be represented by Jefferson despite his negatives.
You can't blame the Democratic Party for this. Carter herself was a Democrat.

I know the Republicans are sad that they NO LONGER control Congress. I guess I'll have to get used to hearing more belly-aching, this time from the sidelines.

However,
She was going to appoint John Murtha as House majority leader. Who by the way was considering taking brides & working with crooks!

This simply demonstrates that people on the far left are less intellectually honest than their political republican counterparts. Corrupt republicans step down -Corrupt democrats get re-elected because the extreme left would rather vote for a corrupt democrat than a republican for purely partisan reasons! Not sure here. However, I believe these dem kool aid drinkers simply refuse to see the corrupt dems for who & what they truely are.

But did he?

You can't convict someone for what he considered doing.

I mean, that would be like going to war with a country who leader really never had the means to fight back, never was a threat to the US, but mearly considered what he would do if he could...

Oh wait...  Wink

Yes, he was considering (not actually doing so) working with them...26 years ago. Got anything that shows any misdealings within more recent years? Also, the reason Pelosi supported Murtha was that the other guy is one of her main political rivals. Of course she doesn't want that guy as majority leader, so she supported Murtha. And was shot down, by those supposedly corrupt Democrats, you keep referring to.

This thread is absoluteley useless. Stretch 8, was there any point in starting this other than showing everyone what a sore loser you are? The election was a month and a half ago. Deal with it and move on. Start a political conversation that can lead somewhere other than a flamefest.

Absolutely. You see, they fucked up so bad with their mismanagement and scandals that no amount of voter fraud or voter intimindation was going to make a lick of difference.  Big grin

The idiot runing Iran should be a higher priority but too bad Bush & Co. felt that Iraq was more important. Bush has given Ahmadinejad exactly what he wanted on a silver platter.....a weaken Iraq.

Glad most Americans aren't drinking what you've been drinking.

That certainly would have been a better way of going about it, but I didn't hear about anybody else running for the position. So it came down to a choice between one of her strong political rivals who might well prove difficult to work with, or an ally who was tempted to do something he shouldn't back when Carter was president. Personally, I would be much more concerned about Murtha's hawkism and social conservatism than an ethical mistake he made that far in the past.
