Quoting Thom@s (Reply 4): I don't care, as long as I can keep the rest of the shoes...
I once heard about this guy who purchased a pair of smart shoes. The idea was that no matter how drunk you got, they could always get you home. The problem was they had an AI chip in them, and after a while they got bored of just walking between the pub and the house. so they started exploring. The guy who bought them started waking up in odd places like museums and on trains etc. He decided to get rid of them, but no matter where he threw them away, they always found their way back to him. Eventually the shoes cottoned on to the fact that they were no longer wanted, and became depressed. They went of the rails completely - started kicking people, petty theft, etc. It began to escalate until they robbed a bank. But then they felt guilty, stole a car, and drove it off a cliff. The guy who originally purchased the shoes then felt really bad, but the manufacturer told them it was okay because the shoes were now in shoe heaven.
