This time of the year is usually very tough on individuals that suffer from depression and other types of mental illness and thats why you see an increase in suicide rates in that population. Cases as describe in the article do happen, but not in the numbers that the press coverage would suggest.

Thats a terrible story, people do get depressed during the season due to the fact that much of it is about family. If you don't have anyone to be with, it can be very hard to cope with.

Oh, BTW, the title of the thread is kind of hard to figure out.

In my recent experience I got a touch of an insight into what this man and men who have done these things think. It's extremely hard to put yourself in those shoes unless you find yourself betrayed not only by those you love but by yourself as well. Add in a pessimistic view of humanities future, and it's a decision that while not easily made; is something more then an instantly discarded folly. I'm glad that things seem better for me now, but even if they do change I know that having been in that dark place is not a journey I'll alow to occur again.

If you ever find yourself in that position again, please remember that there are people on A.net who are probably more than willing to talk and listen to you. Some of us may never have met before, but this place is like an extended family....
