Yes, one of their subsidiaries, Worldwide, lowballed some of their bids, which took a lot of the work our company did. They also bought a local company here, and the results of that remain to be seen.

Nope, but I'm happy to have a rant about Fedex ! One of our partners in the US insists on using them to send things to us. Just sticking a stamp on and mailing it would be quicker half the time. Their local agents here once took 5 days to come and collect something!! DHL seems to be OK though.

So this is the fourth time this has happened in the last 2 months. As usual I am doing 2 day shipping, which is the standard for shipping from Los Angeles to Hawaii. I go online to check my package tracking so I know when to expect it and everything. Long story short, it was shipped on Wednesday, and should have arrived on Friday. I go online to see where it is, and its still sitting in LA!!! Granted it is the Christmas season, but this is ridiculous.

What makes things even worse is that I have another package sitting at DFW right now. Same story, different verse.

All in all, I hate UPS. Unfortunately, where i am most of the year (Southern Oregon area), UPS is pretty much the only option.

Pretty much UPS' color (brown), represents their service well....S**t!

Never had any bad experiences with UPS apart from the electronic touch screen thingy that they use for signatures, rather than normal paper. It's damn near impossible to get your signature right on that bastard!

DHL is another story..had some missing deliveries with them.

Could it be a conspiracy against consumers between shipping company's? Ooops (UPS), FedUp (FedEx), and Dull (DHL) are out to get us!!! Lock up your house, protect your children, THEY ARE AFTER US! Go snail mail (USPS)!!!

I know them as the Unreliable Parcel Service!
Have had numerous issues with them over years...
1) leaving a water sensitive item by front door so it got all wet instead of in carport by kitchen door..sending company was able to replace it
2) leaving a repaired VCR that was marked as "signature reqd" without getting any signature as I was away on vacation...neighbor saw it and picked up for me, luckily
3) leaving a new Dell laptop for one of my cottage tenants without getting the "signature reqd" as marked...good thing they put it by back door so no one saw it from street
4) damaging a Dell laptop that was shipped from DFS Auction so badly that I had to spend many hours to get another one...box looked like it had been dropped from truck...end completely smashed in...it was packed correctly but not for that kind of treatment
5) there was another failure but can't recall details now...

And I only use them maybe once or so a year!

Was it raining when he dropped it off? He might not have thought it would get wet.

Did you report it to the driver who dropped it off right away? No excuse for the treatment either way

I've never had any problems with UPS. A couple of boxes have been dented, but contents have never been damaged.

I happen to like UPS a lot and have never had a bad experience with them.
FedEx has given lots of problems. When people send me packages through FedEx it is a big headache. They send packages out when I am not home and there pick up facility is way out in no-mans-land and has short operating hours. One time it took me 3 weeks to get a package AFTER FedEx made attempts to deliver to my house.
UPS on the other hand has pick up facilities centrally located with operating hours that is conducive to most people's work schedule.

Above all, UPS has a cooler fleet.  bigthumbsup

Hehe.. I had my shipment sitting in MIA for 5 weeks before they forwarded it to GRU/VCP... yeah yeah, it was 3500 KGS and 8 m², but I still paid like $30.000 for it. Sorry, my CLIENT was paying for it, but guess who I had on my back every day for 5 weeks.

Come to think of it, I have never sent anything with UPS that hasn't been delayed in one way or another.
If it isn't equipment or cancelled flights, then it's something else like courier workload or some bullshit from the clearance department.

I must be one of the fortunate ones. I've never had a problem with UPS or FedEx. And I only have had one problem with the USPS and their "carrier pick up" service. I had scheduled a package pick up on line for the following day but, due to what turned out to be an Internet glitch, my request never made it to my local USPS office, even though I received a confirmation that it had. To their credit, when I called to ask why my pkg hadn't been picked up, a USPS Rep. was sent over within the hour to pick up the package (even though I offered to drop it off myself). Not only that, but I received a follow up phone call the following Monday (the snafu occurred on a Friday) from a district manager who further apologized for the mix up and assured me he had been in contact with their IT people and the problem had been found and corrected. Talk about going above and beyond. Anyway, no problems for me - knock on wood.

Does working for them count?

Back in college I did a whole year at the UPS PHL Air hub. I had wanted to work on the ramp and was promised a job there but once hired I was sent to load feeder trailers.

During the long hot summer I began to understand why people followed the Bolsheviks. It was the one time in my life when "Workers of the World Unite" actually sounded very attractive.

We used to joke that UPS stood for Under Paid Slaves.

In our business we deal with UPS daily in high volumes and we have been fortunate to have both a great driver who does not attempt to hide damaged shipments, account reps who are willing to fix things that unfortunatly wrong. I agree that there are times that something goes wrong and I cannot figure out what they were thinking. But all in all I have had positive expeiriances with them. Although we do not deal with their freight division

That doesn't work with the Lakewood, NJ distribution center. I have asked them to hold stuff, gone to the warehouse to pick it up and been told "it's out on delivery" "We were holding it, but it looks like one of the air guys took it out"

I got home and there was another note saying they tried to deliver and no-one was home  banghead

quick experience.

Ordered a point n shoot digital camera from Amazon that didnt ship within its estimated times. I called UPS and asked if they could re-direct delivery to where our honeymoon was taking place. They would not help.
So the camera missed us.

It came to our residence by the day we were on our honeymoon in so I now have to have it Fedexed overnight, cost $50.

Called Amazon and argued that an estimate means no less than, no greater than those numbered days. They refunded my $50.

Later, by chance, I met the senior secretary to the CEO of UPS. She said they could have re-directed it but simply didn't want to go through the effort.

C'est la vie.

The thing about UPS/FedEx is that they make you sign for every package. If you are not at home, they leave a note (up to 3 times) then they send it back if you don't 'claim' your package.

USPS does alot better than UPS/FedEx combined. They'll hold your package at the Post Office. And better: Where I live, the Post Office is open until 7pm!

I avoid UPS/FedEx as much as possible!
