Sandy Berger Hid Stolen Terror Info In Trash
Scandalous new details of how Bill Clinton's national security advisor schemed to remove highly classified terrorism documents from the National Archives paint the picture of a desperate man who tried to bully a trash collector into helping him commit the crime.
Sandy Berger took the sensitive documents in 2003 as he prepared to testify, on behalf of the Clinton Administration, before the September 11 Commission. He stole the documents, hid them under a construction trailer and later tried to get a trash collector to retrieve them.

And Joe Wilson refuses to testify in the Scooter Libby trial, which is indicative he has something hide. Joe Wilson was all over the place, on every tv show alleging cover-up and calling everyone a criminal, but he won't take the witness stand. Chump.

I think the day that CNN and MSNBC expose' after expose' over the Berger scandal, the way they've done over the "Plame blame game", will be the day that Anderson Cooper and Chris Matthews both come out as conservative Republicans.

Where is the liberal spin to this one? Strange how none of them have come in this thread claiming vast right wing conspiracies and other blather. Unfortunately he'll get a slap on the wrist for his doings.

Well Anderson is going to come out as something someday but not as a conservative. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Seems to me that Mr. Berger has gotten off easy; I agree.

Berger should be in jail . . . .
As more and more of this comes to light, I agree with DeltaGator . . . where's the liberal spin. Seems to me, if this were, oh, hell, lets say Poindexter, Carlucci, Powell (not that Powell would do that) the uproar from that side of the aisle would rival a small tactical nuke . . .

Perhaps I'm just tired at the end of a long day, but it is what it is, isn't it? Why is it necessary to have any spin to it? Where are the right wing conspiracy theorists? You know, the ones who pursued the likes of Whitewater, etc. "Spin" isn't the exclusive domain of liberals.

Excellent point.
Ditto the righties that wanted to Impeach Pres. Clinton . . . yeah, yeah, it wasn't about a blow job, it was about a lie . . . I know, I know . . .
That said: We're not talking blowjobs here, we're talking classified documents . . . with a potential to incriminate a President . . .
There is, IMO, a radical difference between a knobber and stolen classified documents. Rather like a tug boat sinking in the Hudson and the Titanic going down . . .

Where's the liberal spin?
Well, I guess the 1st round of spin from the dems referring to Berger being "Sloppy" no longer cuts it, since it is now obvious that no one could be considered "Sloppy" when putting stolen classified documents under a construction trailer.

Report: Berger hid classifed documents
By LARRY MARGASAK
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
He headed toward a construction area. ... Mr. Berger looked up and down the street, up into the windows of the Archives and the DOJ (Department of Justice), and did not see anyone," the interview notes said.
He then slid the documents under a construction trailer, according to the inspector general. Berger acknowledged that he later retrieved the documents from the construction area and returned with them to his office.
Later, when Berger was confronted by Archives officials about the missing documents, he lied by saying he did not take them, the report said.
"There is absolutely no way to determine if Berger swiped any of these original documents. Consequently, there is no way to ever know if the 9/11 Commission received all required materials," Davis said.
If this were a Conservative, we'd never hear the end of it!

All depends upon what was being hidden. Good morning! Hello! Neither side is squwaking about this, which leads me to believe whatever it was wouldn't make anyone look good if it was released.

So, if there's not an advantage to one side or the other . . . why bother in the first place???

Quoting AeroWesty (Reply 10): There has to be a reason why he's not spending some time at Lompoc, and that neither side is making a deal out of this speaks volumes.
I'll tell you why he isn't at Lompoc. He's still earning big bucks at his DC law firm because the justice system finds a way to excuse the rich and powerful. Whether its Rep. Kennedy driving under the influence and getting off scot free or Sandy Berger STEALING documents from the National Archives, politicians and power brokers in DC are almost always given sweet deals. They get away with it because they have influence, and they wield it with vengeance - whether they are republicans or democrats.
And we let them get away with it. Witness the latest abomination - Rep. Jefferson being re-elected in Louisiana.
If you or I had walked out of the NA with classified documents stuffed in our socks, we would have at the very least lost our jobs - and likely spent some time wearing an orange jump suit.
