about $50, most expensive was $39 on a doll kit for my family friends daughter. I was cutting back on presents this year but ended up spending roughly the same as other years

About 1500 CDN. Mostly on my parents and sister who have helped me through University without using government loans or borrowing from the bank. I owe my parents especially, they've been great the past four years, and since I had money saved up I decided to use it on them.
As for a comparison with other years, this is quite a bit more than I've ever spent, and I don't mind one bit.

We've moved into our new home, so we're giving Christmas presents a miss this year. My parents-in-law are getting tickets to a performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion in March.

About 100 USD for 3 in family; mainly useful items that otherwise just would have been bought anyhow, but now they make good presents ...
Having had to work long hours the last weeks, all that usual stuff one does on approach of X-mas just went past me this year.
Actually I am working for my employer from home right now, fixing little problems in a bigger project.

EDIT: Add to that 40 EUR that I spent for re-booking an C-class Award Flight to the U.S. in order to be home when my mum gets a knee-replacement.

36 US dollars. Bought books for my sister, mom, and dad, and that's it.
But, I did spend 60 dollars on myself for a 2GB xD memory card for my camera.

About $600 but prefer to think of it as an investment rather than an expenditure. I'm sure you married guys can understand that.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.
