My family and I are going down and staying in Dorado for 3 days (Dec. 12-15) prior to getting on a cruise ship (The Dawn Princess).

Any suggestions on what to do?

I know we're going to schlepp around Old San Juan and el Yunque. We also probably want to go snorkeling and lie around on the beach a bit. Is there anything spectacular that I'm missing?

We'll have a rental car, of course, so we can drive but we don't want to waste our precious time.

Thanks all for the help!

I've never been there but I have a friend who's from Puerto Rico. She's from Camuy, located on the northwest part of the island about one and half hour drive from San Juan. There you can visit the Rio Camuy Cave Park; A 268-acre park consisting of subterranean caverns carved out by the Camuy River.

Well then,

Dorado is fun but nothing spectacular... If in Puerto Rico I would have chosen something else but oh well... If you get the chance go to Vieques and take the night tour of the Fluorescent bay!!! It's is incredibly worth it. You might also want to check out the worlds largest sattelite dish in Arecibo (the one that's in the movie "Contact"). Plaza las Americas is fun and huge but you probably have enough malls where you are from...Definately, Old san Juan, El Morro and the beautiful beaches that are plentifull in Puerto Rico!!! Nightlife is great in Old San Juan and the Isla Verde area.

Enjoy, it's a great place!!!
