Feel free to pile on with the Cargo Bay, etc., I don't care!
As some of you know, and even fewer really care, I moved back to Seattle (from Maui) this summer. We took our time getting settled in, spending two months in San Francisco first, then goofing off for the rest of the summer in Seattle. I started looking in earnest in October and by the end of November I was getting pretty bummed. Lots and lots of system generated 'thanks but no thanks', but only a few nibbles. After Thanksgiving I'd pretty much given up looking until after the New Year. But, to my surprise, December is actually a very active month, as companies position themselves to bring on new staff right at the start of the year. Such was my case, I was contacted by Expedia the week before Christmas, have been through two interviews, and got the offer today.
Starting next Tuesday, I'll be Expedia's newest package pricing analyst, working in Bellevue. Needless to say, I'm very psyched, thus the self gloss, but some of you have been asking how the job hunt is going, so this is my way of letting you know! Yeah me!

Woohoo! Congrats!
(So this means the next gay cruise I book via expedia.com will mysteriously have its pricing well "analyzed", right? )

WAY TO GO DUANE! Even if you are selling out to a Microsoft spin-off, you're getting yourself semi-into the industry and from what I've heard Expedia is actually a pretty good company. Now how are you ever going to survive the Seattle-Bellevue commute which can take up to an hour each from what I hear on the I-90 floating bridge? (poor guy, I feel for ya.)
So how about finding me a deal for tickets to Hanoi in April?
Hmm, a whole new package demographic I bet they haven't even thought of!
Quoting AeroWesty (Reply 5): You're coming along on the cruise too?
Hey, this is my self gloss thread - go make your own to cruise in!

I've been doing some contract work in the same area, and at least in the AM, its not bad. I've never had to drive back at rush hour, so that could be a challenge. You can check my stress level next week to see how its going.

Congratulations Duane! Pity I'm going back down to the Bay Area tomorrow, otherwise I'd suggest we celebrate!

Oops sorry for not explaining it. I've heard a rumor Cruise Liners employ many crew members. Lots of men at sea. So I thought I was clever and called them Sea Men.
I've also heard if you need them during the trip you say "All hands on deck." And then there will be lots of Sea Men all over.

hahaha.....Wait. I've never thought about it like that. Good question. Hmmmm. I believe so. But when the shit hits the fan the seamen will be all over the walls.

25 Superfly: LOL! Damn that was funny! Congrats on the new job Searpqx! Now I know who to bug on which airlines really have the lowest rates.
26 IAH777: Oh, stop it. You know damned well Ecuadorian gives you heartburn.
27 Searpqx: Remind me not to invite Westy to my next self gloss thread - he's always gotta be the center of attention! Thanks all - as I said, I'm pretty pumped -
28 ANCFlyer: Congrats on the new job! Especially since it's some place you wanted . . . And thanks to you and Westy for the morning laugh!
29 AeroWesty: I have a pill for that. (No, not THAT pill.) I have no idea what you're talking about.
30 ScarletHarlot: Yeah Duane! Way to go! Congratulations on the new job.
31 Superfly: Searspqx: With ScarlotHarlot living near by, you think you can get much work done at all?
32 CastleIsland: Congrats, Duane, and well done. It didn't take very long for this thread to reach new depths, did it? Much funnier than the cargo bay, however.
33 BCAInfoSys: Oh believe me, between the two of them a lot of drinking gets done. We're all a bunch of alchy friends up there in the Pac NW.
