Intentionally flying in the face of some of the members on this post who think I'm nuts and have no life (keeping in mind that I AM saving up for a wedding and a house....thus out of necessity I have to keep my leisure and recreational spending down), I'm going to throw this at you.

I have this set of 7 JetBlue 1:150 scale models. They retail new for about $30 each.

I don't really want or need them anymore. They probably aren't worth much on Ebay. And I know that there are people here who would LOVE to have them. Plus, I know that for whatever reason, many of you get all riled up whenever I post a R2R thread (why...I have no idea.....nothing is forcing you to look at the post). And I love showing them off. Plus, I have a reputation among some of you as being stingy, cheap, and uncaring.

So I'm going to put all of that together and offer up a giveaway.

Some time in the next 7 days, I am going to create a post. In it will be 7 (seven) video clips of my reel to reel playing. The first person to correctly identify the artist and title of all 7 songs within 24 hours of the post being made will win the models. When/if there is a winner, I will mention that name in the topic as a reply. That person then need only send me the address of where they'd like the models shipped to in the form of an E-mail or private IM, and I'll ship them off, free of charge. To anywhere in the world the USPS can get a package to. No "handling" or "won the tapes but have to pay shipping" bait and switch. No sir. The winner will get them no strings attached.

So keep your eyes open for a topic to be entitled "The JetBlue Model Reel To Reel Contest" to be posted within the next 7 days.

Now let the flaming and slander begin, knowing full well that the whiners, bitchers, and name callers will be the first ones to check out that thread. If you have some moral reservation about me giving away MY models, well oh well. That's your problem. I can do anything I want with them. And I choose to offer them up in this format.

slander

I believe the correct term is 'libel' as we can't actually speak to you.  biggrin

Seriously, I wouldn't mind the planes, but I only have internet at work and can't view Youtube videos or the like. And my computer has no speakers.

Matt D:
So towards the end of the wedding when the guy usually throws a garter belt (or something like that), will you toss out a JetBlue A320 and or a Quantegy 407?

How about tossing model airplane parts instead of rice.

Having tails and wings thrown can be a bit painful. I like the Q-407 idea, although there won't be many people there who would have any use for it. Is that a roundabout way of saying you'll be there?

It's looking like it.  Smile
Usually I hate weddings but after seeing you and Jen together, I know you two are madly in love with each other and are truely happy together.
Other weddings have been painful to watch and attend as I know one of the two were in it for reasons other what marriage is intended.

Since I am using up all my vaction time for the year on another trip to Asia, I'll have to do two separate weekend trips to SoCal. One family trip, one friends trip. Your wedding will be the friends trip to SoCal.

Ok great. Go ahead and shoot me a private E-mail w/ your address. We are looking to send out the invites probably about the first week of March. If I know you are coming, we'll send one up to you.

I am back in Detroit and I have a photo of my reel to reel, a Califone 555. It has French and English lettering. I know it is by no means the best, but I think it is cool. The tape I have on it is a home made mixed tape of 80s power ballads.

Big version: Width: 771 Height: 575 File size: 244kb
Califone 555

Outstanding idea, Matt! I'll do my best to win. And seeing as I'm also in SoCal, you'll save on the shipping  biggrin

Good luck. Heck if you win, we can meet up at LAX or SNA and I'll bring them to you.
