I'm zapping through the TV channels, and a techno beat song has a familiar sound to it. "Teachers leave them kids alone". Not again, I think to myself.
Eric Prydz (sp?) is behind this one. Not as bad as the time Scissor Sisters attacked and molested "Comfortably Numb", but this version still becomes rubbish next to the original "Another brick in the wall".
Whatever happened to making music without ripping someone off?

Same goes with movies. I think there are about 6 original plotlines in Hollywood (only 2 in Bollywood) and everything else is just a variation of those.

I heard a horrible, just plain battered version of "Comfortably Numb" on the radio, and my god, it hurt my ears....And Radiohead did a pretty bad cover of "Wish you were here" IIRC.

Can't help it, I simply can't listen to any contemporary band. I guess I'm getting really old...The Hawk is playing the Immigrant Song right now. That's something I really like.

Quoting Daleaholic (Reply 9): I must say, I don't really like it, although the video has a strong message.
I only caught climpses of the video. Someone running from someone? In case I never see it again, what was the message?
Quoting Dan2002 (Reply 11): I heard a horrible, just plain battered version of "Comfortably Numb" on the radio, and my god, it hurt my ears.
Yep, that would be scissor sisters... (I have a feeling they only produce rubbish. Aren't they the ones in a video dancing around singing "I don't feel like dancing. No sir no dancing today"? Sums up pop music pretty well..)
Quoting Dan2002 (Reply 11): And Radiohead did a pretty bad cover of "Wish you were here" IIRC.
Can't say I've heard that one. But I remember that Wycleaf (sp?) fella making a version of it. Fairly close to the original if I remember correctly, and seemed more like a tribute more than just an attempt to make easy money off their song.

Quoting Kaddyuk (Reply 4): I quite like it... It makes a change from all the crappy "RnB" that seemed to be dominating the market.
So Europe has caught the fever of the hip hop and RnB too eh? Lucky you guys get videos of techno songs! All the videos we get in the states are teenage rock and hip-hop crap that unfortunately doesn't seem to go out of style. If not that it's spanish Reggeton which is just as annoying!
Quoting Kaddyuk (Reply 4): I've also met Eric Prydz and he's a very nice guy, unlike Mylo who is a twunt...
Is Mylo from Miami? All I've heard from him is that song "drop the pressure", and I have to say I liked it.
What's the name of that song by Eric Prydz where the video is an 80's aerobics class? Quite funny. The original 80's song was a lot better. Not a big fan of these discohouse remixes of classic tunes.
