This is post is not meant as a political post, so no D vs R please. I just want to know about the government and the leaders of USA.
How much does an average citizen really know about the government and the government system and how the government operates? Do we know 1 % of what is to know?
And what about the financial system(as you will notice I like the word system, lol) what do we know there? I have heard rumors that banknotes and electronic money is just some kind of bluff, to deceive the American people in some way, what about that? What does rumors like that come from? Idiots? Fanatics?
And all these new restrictions in our rights and the surveillance of citizens, that’s not to protect us from terrorists is it? What is it about? I don’t understand why the government need to…..why they would want that. From what I understand the last years the government has increased and increased their control over their citizens….why? I don’t get it? Is it just because control is power and its good to have power?
I’m rather young, so perhaps its something I don’t understand about governments SOP.
And the war in Iraq? What that about? Does anyone know why we invaded Iraq? Is it about supporting the war industry?
I just don’t get the US today, perhaps anyone with some experience from private business or something gets this and can explain?
This is no flame post, I have no problem giving up all my rights or so. That’s ok, I don’t need them. But, are you not supposed to talk about these subjects? Should you just ignore it and just pretend you understand what is going on with USA and the government?
It just feels like we don’t know anything anymore, like all the information is in the governments hands and we should just do what they say…I don’t know.
What is your take on this? Am I just stupid and ignorant when it comes to government system knowledge? I would be happy to receive some explanation to all this. Thanks.
Ps. This is no “left-liberal crazy post” So please refrain from that argument. Even I think that’s stupid and childish.

It sounds to me like you needed to pay more attention in school.
WRT the financial system, the system in the USA is the most transparent in the world. You rumors you are refering to are for the most part from the professional anti-globalization protester types that haven't got a clue about economics (or productive jobs for that matter).
The rest of your post is either obvious flame bait or you are very naive and need to quit smoking pot.
Quoting Jessedachipo (Thread starter): And the war in Iraq? What that about? Does anyone know why we invaded Iraq?
The intentions for going to war were made very clear in 2003: we claimed that Iraq had WMDs or the capability to produce them in violation of U.N. sanctions. Turns out that Iraq didn't have WMD and our continued presence in Iraq is to develop a self-sufficient government so that we can leave ASAP.

What exactly do you wish to know? Most everything about how our government operates and the data it collects, collates, folds, spindles and regurgitates is available to the public, by law. That being said, governments must keep secrets in order to exist and function. The secrets aren't kept so much from its populace, but from other governments. For a feel of the data out there, try this site

It is true that US currency is no longer backed by a gold or silver. US currency is backed by faith. Faith of its people and the rest of the world in the world's most powerful and robust economy, protected by the world's most powerful military. A simplistic view, but accurate.
As stated, the US financial system (1 system) is transparent.
Quoting Jessedachipo (Thread starter): And all these new restrictions in our rights and the surveillance of citizens,
The erosion of our privacy rights is being debated daily. The Patriot Act, which was enacted after 9/11 and renewed last year, codifies, in one place, a lot of practices the government used prior to 9/11. I'm quite squemish about The Patriot Act, but so far, I'm not too worried.
The war in Iraq was launched on faulty information. We went in after weapons of mass destruction that were either never there or removed. We did manage to liberate a nation from a brutal dictator at the same time. It was not launched to prop up the 'war industry.' The war continues in order to form a stabilized government, and ally, in Iraq.

Then you're an idiot that doesn't understand your rights. Please read this document and these amendments.

So, what do you want the truth to be? It sounds like you have a preconceived notion lurking around out there that you want validated.

I want the truth.
I must say that your post is very good Fr8mech.
If you tell me that you believe the official story about the Iraq war, if you tell me you believe it 120%, then i will believe it to.
can you say that?

This is the first time hear about this. Perhaps my problem is that I have poor understanding of government SOP. But anyways this facts is very interesting to me.
but why would they need secrets? that i do not understand.

Well, this thread is done.
It was fun, but I can see the direction it's heading already.
Jessedachipo. Use the search engine, or read through the forum here for answers to your questions.
When you have something serious to discuss that isn't designed to be flamebait from the outset, please feel free to repost.
Also, there is a built in spell checker on Airliners. You might avail yourself of it's benefits. Since just about every other word you typed is spelled incorrectly, and it's quite annoying to try to read. I can excuse that from someone that doesn't use English as a First Language, but from someone professing to be from the US, it's a joke.
