 Sad

i got her (the girl i like) chocolate for Hannukah (Lindt, mind you, not cheap crap chocolate). and not just a bar or 2 truffles. a substantial amount. i wrapped the stuff myself, i even made the card!

it backfired. but not in a really bad way.

i had a pretty good day today...good day at school, corrected my english teacher Big grin, visited a nursing home, went to an engagement party, when i got home this message from her was left for me on AIM (i leave it on):
"i wanted to say thanx again for the chocolate  Smile/happy/getting dizzy, ur a very cool person and i value our friendship, lets keep it this way"

i'm not suicidal, i'm not going to throw myself on her to try to get her to change her mind. I feel disappointed, empty, upset. I've never liked anyone to any degree besides her, and I don't know what to do.

Looks like Josh is single for another year (or worse)

Welcome to the club.

I just got off the phone with the only woman I love, Michelle, and she just called me an asshole and hung up on me.

While you think that may be good. When they hurt you, it hurts 10 times as bad as anything else possibly could.

There are a lot worse things than being single. At least you know where you stand.

Plus, I was recently informed that my (female) friend of some 17 years-that lives in New York is going to be getting married.

Not only do I get to be the one to walk her down the aisle, but she also wants me to come out a week or so before the wedding to help get everything ready.

And I'm going to have to find a date to bring with me, which is not likely to happen.

There's a trip I'm really looking forward to.  Insane

Matt D-

Going to drive to NY? Or break down and fly again? Perhaps two AC tickets LAX-YYZ & YYZ-JFK?

You gota stay strong, and be confident in yourself that you will find someone. Try not to dwell on it. Its hard not to, I know from past experience. But you gota stay positive. I agree with KROC... it can really hurt much more when you have actually been envolved. I once had a girlfriend that i really cared for a few years back... we would break up, and it would be very hurtfull. a few months later we got back together and dated a few more months, then broke up again... and it just really makes the pain worse when you have actually had someone and lose them again and again. But I never lost hope, and sure enough a few months later, I attract the most beautiful, caring, smart girl i could imagine... and ya know what she said attracted her to me first? my smile and my self confidence. Always keep that in mind! Those two aspects can do wonders for you man! But anyways, just know your situation could be worse then it is. Your time will be comin around soon. just dont let it pass you by when it does come! best of luck to you!

Cheers!
Brian

What the hell kind of routing is that?

Chances are more than likely that I'll fly there, unless I can convince her and her fiancé to get married out here.

Doesn't mean that I am particularly excited about it though.

Of course there's an opening in my company in Tampa, Florida that the more I think about it, the more I want to pursue.

I've had enough of the BS here in CA, not the least of which are the women, which are dripping with narcissism, and materialism.

MattD-

No offense, but why would you leave LA? There is very little to do in Tampa. Either you could shell out a few grand for a boat, or get used to driving a few hours to go to Disney World, other than that it's a tourist trap, with seafood places all around.

Oh, now I get it, so your a Yanks fan huh? Traded that old Dodger blue, for the pinstripes of the Yankee greats. Well, have a nice time at Legends Field come Spring Training.

I just need a change of scenery and a new start.

Plus, I would only be in Tampa for two years. After which, if things go according to plan, we will be moved up to Atlanta.

I have stayed in both of those places and have been to LA. You will be a lot more well off if you stayed in LA. Atlanta really isn't any better than Tampa. There's no beaches, the traffic is the worst in the country (check the rankings).

The sights include:

CNN Center
Jimmy Carter Center (very nice, even for a Republican like me)
Stone Mountain (Readneck Headquaters)
Olympic Park

And that's it. Seriously, stay in LA, or at least in California. You will regret it. I have never met a person who moved AWAY from California

I moved away from San Francisco ten years ago. It wasn't by choice. My dad got transferred to Maryland. Trust me, speaking from experience, stay in California. If you're sick of LA, then try San Francisco. It's a great place to live.

Matt, move to France, like me, than you'll see how much cooler LA is than anywhere else.  Sad
