I'm looking for some recipes for some Authentic Southern U.S. food. I'm not much of a cook and food person, so I'm not sure what constitutes Southern.

Recipes are helpful, but just listing what kind of food is constituted as a southern food will do just fine.

I chose this as my theme for my food night I have with my family and now I'm not sure what to do.  confused

Thanks,

Steve

Depends on what you mean by "Southern"...

A traditional Sunday dinner in the south might be Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob.

Buth then there's "soul food", traditionally eaten by blacks in the south, maybe barbecued pork, collard greens, okra, sweet potatoes.

Southern food usually means inexpensive ingredients, frequently cooked with a lot of fat. Not particularly healthy (don't forget when these traditions started, people down south worked a whole lot harder than we do today), but man does it taste good!

What kind of ingredients do you have available? Maybe I can get you some recipes you can use...  cloudnine

Southern Living magazine is a good start. You can search their database of recipes:
