North Dakota Fighting Sioux vs. the Minnesota Gophers

And tonights winner is:

This will definetly move UND up in the ranks and hopefully bring U of M down off of first place for the season. Anybody care to predict tomorrow night's outcome?

This coming from someone with numerous threads/mentions of Oregon State baseball.  Yeah sure

College hockey is a big deal over in these parts!

Interesting to see UND knock off Minnesota. We're sucking this year, and we took 3 of 4 from the Sioux.

Hell yeah! It's actually a huge win for us considering how absolutely awful we've been for most of the season and how dominating Minnesota has been. A few of my fraternity brothers went down for the game (I thought the Sioux had no chance, so I didn't bother), I hope they made it out alright! The Rodents suck! Go Big Sioux!

I have a passing interest in college hockey since a few of the Thrashers' picks the past few years are currently playing in the collegiate ranks. We've got two playing for North Dakota right now, Rylan Kaip (Drafted in the 9th round in '03) and Michael Forney (Drafted in the 3rd round in '06). Kaip got into a decent scrap a few weeks back during the game against University of Alaska-Anchorage:

That Kaip fight was awesome. That fight was so awesome. Forney, and Vandevelde live down the hall from me in the dorm, they're pretty cool guys.

Michigan vs. Michigan State is always a good match. I always enjoy Michigan against Minnesota. Here is in my opinion the greatest goal ever scored in college hockey.

Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

Atlanta is big on college hockey players. Executive Veep and GM Don Waddell came from the college ranks (Northern Michigan), one former NMU player (J.P. Vigier) is on the roster, and I believe two draft picks are playing for Northern now.

Actually the NCAA does, officially college hockey is the 2nd biggest money maker of college sports. (Remember football D-I style comes under the CFA for $$$ and not the NCAA).

Love both UND and UM rinks. Isn't Wisconsin v. Minnesota another huge rivalry in the WCHA, like Michigan State v. Michigan in the CCHA, and Boston College v. Boston U, in the Hockey East?

Jim Slater played for Michigan State (Was the captain his senior year) and Dany Heatley was at Wisconsin when we drafted him.

Browsing around the Thrashers' website, I omitted another North Dakota player who's a Thrashers draft pick, Andrew Kozek.

New Hampshire v. Maine is pretty big as well.

That said, get any two Hockey East teams together, and there's a potential for fireworks...

OSU won the nat'l title...the first Northern team to do so in a long time. I'd say its great to promote his hometown team.

UND is who I pull for in college hockey. I like that they are keeping the Sioux mascot. And if they beat Denver U., that's always great too.

Yes, indeed. But then he shouldn't go and do this:

No, the Sioux are going to get swept by DU when they come to Magness in a few weeks  Wink But for the moment, we thank you for making the WCHA regular season title slightly more competitive...

Did anybody here see that Bina shot where he was basically just clearing the puck from well inside the Sioux zone and it went right through the Gopher's goalie's legs? I think that one made the highlight reel.

I scored like that last year in Bantams from center ice. I also got a hat trick in that game.

From a current Husky, that is absolutely true. When Boston College comes to Matthews Arena (Northeastern's rink) the game never dissapoints. We beat them last time too, 3-2 in OT. Boston U. games are also great, the chants of "Sucks to BU!" are priceless.
