Quoting CaptLockheed (Reply 1): Drug addict pop stars are so boring now, instead of doing the right thing and dying of an overdose, they have to bang on endlessly about rehab and their suffering..
I have to agree with the Capt. Like us ordinary people don't have enough of our own problems, we have to listen to musicians, actors, atheletes and the like all give us their sob stories. With all their talant and all their money, I'm not about to feel sorry for them because they thought shooting heroin or drinking 4 bottles of Jack a day sounded like a good thing to do.

Quoting CaptLockheed (Reply 1): Oliver Reed was a proper man just did his stuff acted and drank himself
Had to throw him out of my hotel in Barbados. He decided to get drunk one night and broke every glass on the bar, thought it was very funny. I told him to pack his bags and leave, he said he wasn't, he said "don't you know who I am" and I said I don't care if you were the Queen herself. Had my security guard take him and deposit him on the curb. Threatened to sue me and the hotel, found another hotel and got thrown out as well. He was a real jackass, I believe he was deported from Barbados. I was happy you don't need jerks like that around

Some folks actually pin Sid's death on his own mother, who had supposedly given him the heroin. He had supposedly gotten clean during his stint @ Rikers. I think that regardless of whether Nancy had died or not, he was already on his way to checking out. Getting put in jail for the murder of Nancy (Something that to this day is still unknown whether it was Sid or someone else who murdered Nancy.) really did nothing but delay his death. He had already had at least one brush with death from an overdose not too long prior to Nancy's death.
There's a story that Sid asked Lemmy of Motörhead to teach him to play bass by saying to him "I can't play bass." To which Lemmy replied, "I know".
Sid is the "James Dean" of the punk movement. I guess in someways, Shane McGowan is the "Keith Richards" of punk.
