I've used Mozilla's Firefox for a long time, and never had any issues with it. Until recently.

Right now I am using Opera, but I just tried uninstalling and re-installing my firefox browser because I like it better than Opera, but to no avail in fixing the issues I've been having.

I'm not sure whats wrong with it. It's just slow, then becomes unresponsive, then it gives me an error screen that asks me to shut it down and restart the browser. After doing all that, it works for even less time than priviously(if at all).

I also get a pop up telling me that firefox is running, but not responding. And the only way to open a window is to either end the process (ctrl+alt+delete>process>firefox>end process) or restart my system.

After I re-installed it, I tried going to a thread in the Av/Mil aviation forum and click on a youtube link. It opened the link and the video, but it was very slow and I could not replay nor fastforward or rewind the video because it would simply freeze.

Another weird thing is that after I un-installed Firefox and search & deleted all firefox/mozilla related files I could find (this was the second attempt at re-installing firefox), all my bookmarks, search history, saved email/passwords (including a.net), and firefox add-ons (not sure what they are called), are still there.

Oh and btw, I also ran Spyware Doctor and Ad-Aware before attempting to re-install it.

Thanks for any help!

edit: I meant used, not sued! lol

Let me clarify that:

After I un-installed it I deleted the files, then I installed it again and all the items I mentioned above were still in the browser.

I'm running Version 2.0.0.1

Try going into Windows Explorer and selecting the Tools menu, scroll down to Options which opens the Folder Options dialog box. Once there, select the View tab and make sure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.

Then, go to this address and delete everything there:

C:|Documents and Settings|yourusername|Application Data|Mozilla|Firefox

If that doesn't fully work, go into your Registry and nuke any of the Firefox listings.

You have to also delete your Firefox profile. When you install Firefox, it automatically builds a profile for you and to completely uninstall the browser, you have to also delete your profile. After going through the normal uninstall process for Firefox (control panel then add/remove programs) open the Run box in your Start menu. Type firefox.exe -profilemanager and click OK. If you haven't modified the profile Firefox generated for you, only one profile will be shown which will be the "Default" profile. Delete that profile. Reboot your computer. Reinstall Firefox.
Also, if you're not happy with version 2 of Firefox and want to return to 1.5.0.9, that download can be found here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
