Greetings,
I am planning to travel to Costa Rica (IAH-SJO) in April. Since I've never been in Central America, I was wondering what i can expect on gay nightlife, hotels, sight-seeing and beaches. Thank you for your input and recomemdation.

In terms of the gay nightlife etc. I have no idea, but for beaches check out Manuel Antonio National Park, its like $3 USD to get in..Quiet tranquil beaches, if you walk around you can even find a secluded beach. It's amazing. This is on the Pacific side of CR...

We took Sansa from SJO to Quepos-it's like a 25 min plane ride.

I visited Costa Rica a few years back and we stayed at a gay hotel between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. There is a gay beach in the area as well. I will try to get the name for you this evening.

One thing you can't miss is Tabacon. It is a resort and hotel. While not a gay hotel, my partner and I did not receive even a side ways glance when we visited.

The resort has thermal springs that create all sorts of pools to relax in. It is unbelievable. Very Garden of Eden-esque. If you can't afford to stay at the hotel, you can still visit the resort for $40 a day. However, I strongly recommend staying at the hotel.

Have a great time.

Andrew

Ok, I found the hotel in Quepos. It was the Hotel Villa Roca.

This was a lot of fun. The runs were very nice by Costa Rican standards and each had a very affordable mini bar. The pool is clothing optional except at breakfast (thank goodness).

Have fun,

Andrew

Ahd214..Thanks for the info. The Tabacon hotel looks pretty nice. I also had a membership with the leading hotels of the world, so I might try to book this hotel for the weekend. A few friends also mentioned about hotel villa roca however, nothing had been finalized yet. I am also planning to stay in San Jose (capital) for 2 nights.
What is the distant between Tabacon hotel and Hotel Villa Roca? Thanks again

We took a van transfer between Tabacon and Villa Roca and it took most of the day, 4 to 5 hours. The roads twist and turn a great deal so it is not possible to drive over 30 mph most of the time. I would fly if possible.

If you have to pick, go to Tabacon instead of Quepos.

Quepos.

If I recall Quepos is much closer to the beach than Tabacon. I'm a beach bum so that appeals to me more.
